i just thought ths would bee a nice place to post AF storys and horror story. also a place were you can post requesting help on your af quests just to start it off ill give a little ino for all you up and commings some nice info about af from my dealings with it

when i first got the game all was peaceful running areound suda killing my mandi and bees and crawlers and running from yags and gobs(which i still hunt down for revenge now) and then i saw it..
it was a drk in full af i was like wtf is that? and i checked him and was like sweet and being a noob i asked him"how much that costed " of corse he laughed at me then told me "it was free you quest for it" i was like cool so then i went lvling crazy. i got my adv jobs and played around till i found the one i liked best which was DRG. and i played as much as posible and finally i was able to go after my AF1.

o the joy i though soon ill be the "flying purple mob masher" so as many of you have seen the shouts started and the ls beggin for help. and i got my first af group going i had to go to altepa desert and fight a nm (one of those ant dudes) and we raped him o it was grand. i though to my self this AF stuff is going to be cake....W R O N G

thats the games attempt to make you feel that you just about got this game whoomped lol. o next came the net searches for guides on how to get my af i studied it like a preacher and his bible.
then it was trying to get partys to gether to find my coffer keys. which isnt hard to do since most of the places you lvl at during the same times as you get the lvls needed to get your AF.
the problem is finding those stupid freaking spwans of satan coffers. who taunt you from afar moking you. o you say i got my coffer in 15 mins *reaches out and chockes you* lol i wasent that lucky well start with quicksands i never lvled there i went from crawlers nest to kuffel tunnle and low and behold i get a coffer key there. cool i needed that one any way later for my last coffer containing my key item for my helmet. so in the MH it went . after after about a week of cap quests and nm fights i wanted my af pants well if you ever went 50 cap paper hunting you know all about the necro hell hole. well i had to finda path to a island in bastila downs now the nm was easy to kill whith the help i had it was just the hide and go seek ing to get ther that will make you jump out of your skinn when yo ur sneak and inv. runs out.

now i get may AF pants i felt so good i was walking on clouds. next came quicksands coffer my af boots i spend a week about an hour every day running around in a place i had no map to to find that stupid box unknown to me that there are 2 or 3 sets of caves in 2 diffrent zones so guess who spent over 60k on sneak and invis stuff and was in the WRONG freaking zone yep me .lol so after i heard o that ones easy about 40 times i finally said if it s freaking easy (not my words i used nastier ones)come show me. so i was like #$%#$$%%$%$%$%$%$%%$^#%^@%^ i was in the wrong spot the hole time. and wouldnt you just know it the place is packed with highs finding the coffers for gil and items. so after about 2 hours we find it and boom AF boots.next is boyua
tree coffer the key is cake i myself got 6 keys while lvling ther and the coffer spawned in my camp so no running required

well next came irft caulderns coffer key OMG i couldnot get any help on tht one so i broke out the old gil wallet and shouted bribes for help no responces so i figured out wtf ill go see if i can at least find the place to save time later.. well i find it and do a search and i see a couple of bst farming or lvling i had no idea both were japaneese so i use my uber trasnlater skills and i get a responce form one of them for a small 50k he found my key for me . and as you will find out now your on your own getting help finding the coffers. so i subed whm and sneak and inv my self NOTE BOMBS THER ARGO FROM A MILE AWAY so the deaths fell were they may i died 4 times looking for that coffer o yea i forgot i died 4 times looking for quicksands also. then i figured bribs worked once lets see how it does this time well afer a couple of mins i find another bst(since they solo they dont mind helping to much)well there goes 30k more and bamn i die opening the coffer (BUT I GOT MY AF BODY) he raises me gets paid and runs off(important item to have on you every moment of your ffxi game is scroll of instant warp)

well next come my kuffel tunnle coffer already having the key i head to hter and go a hunting unknow to me a buddy of mine spent the night at my pad and was helping his friend get a adv job using my char well guess what HE THREW AWAY MY COFFER KEY! well i go a party together and after 2 hours i get a key(when you need it they wont freaking drop them)and i set out a hunting well after 4 hour hunt again no map to the zone i find it i open it and guess freaking what? yep the guide i got off net missed a stap and i got the freaking MAP by this time i didnt need a map i have the zone memoryized. at lvl 60 its kind of hard to get a party for kuffel tunnle well needless to say i got a nother key and 4 more hours later i got the coffer

im still waiting to kill my nms but i am keepimg my fingers crossed..

and just to let all of you know i had a lot of friends try to help and some i would like to thank now

UPDATE

i got my helmet last night and as with the rest of my AF is was a fun old time. well lets begain i sat in jueno yelling all day and i fanally get a alliance going it contatined 7 DRGs a WHM a BLM a SMN and a PLD 90% of the party teled to yhouart jungle me not having the crystal had to airship it well we get ther and me also not knowing were the temple was i get LOST lol. well we finally make it to temple and i DC and DC and DC 8 freaking times in a row on long enough to get party invite and bamn im out again. lets just sa i woke up everyone within a mile of my house a BTW it was 3 am when we went there. finally we make it to the room werwe my nms are and the fight starts im freaking out i didnt even watch the fight all i did was hit my jump macro and dart back and forth at my tp and connection speed as soon as they died i ran over to the spot clicked and hit X as fast as i could not evan looking at the words still afread id dc so i didnt evan get to look at my own end story( i wish i could see it again) boom i get my lid and they warp me out incase of dc as soon as i hit jueno DC get back online just in time to thank everyone and BOOM dc again.. BUT MY AF HELL IS OVER WOOOOT!!!
now i look like barney on crack hehehehe

My AF was actually pretty easy, I was very lucky >_<

However, me HELPING OTHER PEOPLE with their AF usually ends up a nightmare.

Two words: Castle Vazhl. I don't think any elaboration is required.

I just laid back on the leveling and got my friends on Vent to help me with um ^^ Very easy

Currently I am in AF horror!

Can you believe I have camped the damn eldieme coffer for 4 days and no pop! (Through Glacier entrance). I've tried soloing map 1, but North Gate is always closed! and nobody to help me open it. I shout, I tell, I ask friends but not a single soul feels bad for me and helps me get the coffer ; ;. My bad luck extends to thieves just walking in, and taking them...which means I have to wait 30 mins for a respawn. /sigh so tired of this....

Oh sorry for not being specific, I have my key already :/ I need the chest ; ;. That's what makes it worse.

But yea, I won't give up. I've made it this far as a paladin, I'm going all the way!

I never ran into that problem kikai, I guess u just had too many nubs with u.

and for the coffers, with so many people searching, sometimes it's best to search on your own. Even if someone else found it, it may already be gone by the time u get to it.

Sometimes it takes time. It's how bad you want it. Sometimes people get it right away and sometimes it takes a long time. Don't get discouraged, keep trying, your bound to get it.

Castle Oztroja...yeah. I'm a level 55 thf currently and I'm trying to stay updated on my AFs by getting them 1 level in advance. Last night it was time for my 56 item( the leg armor, Rogue's culotte). I subbed whm to make things easier for me and save myself some money.

In my opinion, the coffer campers there are just plain greedy. I tried explaining to the other jp thieves there that I was doing an AF quest and as soon as I was done, I would leave. All they were interested in was the ring you get from the coffer, one of them that even spoke a bit of English even said "sorry, gil"

I was told that a coffer opened by someone doing their AF spawns again instantly, if that's the case what is the big deal about letting someone doing their AF quest having 1 chest? Even if it doesn't spawn instantly, who cares? You're still doing someone a favor that doesn't want to be there.

I saw the coffer 2 times in 8 1/2 hours, the first time it was trapped and it weakened me, I ended up dying because I got poisoned by the 2 yagudo in the room and the weakening left me too low on mana to poisna myself.

Anyway, I saw my chance at 5 am when there were only only 6 people in the castle and only 2 hunting for the coffer. I sent them the same tells I sent everyone else explaining that I was doing the AF quest, one told me he was going afk for 20 min, and the other one said he would leave the coffer for me..I'm not too sure if the second guy was telling the truth, he was still searching for it but who knows. Finally after 2 attempts in 8 1/2 hours I managed to get my AF leg armor. I hope I don't have to go back there ever again for AF ><

Lol! Thanks man! I actually tagged along to help a rdm get his pants in Garliage Citadel so I noticed how the whole gate thing works now! They also said they'd help me get my coronet when the time comes, so I'm a very happy pally ^^! I'm hoping I get to that next week sometimes, I need a little break from AFs lol.

no real horror stories for me ^^ i was there when megatron got his af pants, gloves and helm since we both are drgs.

Warrior AF3, well I went to go do that one with 12 people. At the level you can wear it which is level 60, u would need a whole alliance cause it's 3 gobs. but with a few levels 75's it was rather easy. But man, those gobs are bomb tossing maniacs. One person died from the ranger gob, he got hit with Eagle Eye Shot. But other than that, everything was cool.

Well This is bought Theif's Af Rouge Bonnit. man they make u walk through fire and everything. for this thing and i don't really like it. Ok first u have to go to windy, and get quest activted. Ok First go through Garlge and find the pillar with the ??? then a gobin falls down kill it its a toughy. It uses perfect dodge. ok when ur done u get the graple hook that lets u clime the towers out there find the right tower and ull find a taru person thats a theif whos insain he'll sign ur letterthen go to jeuno, and talk to some gobin in lower jeuno
now u have to go on some "Gobin Gambling" tournment... if u lose in the tournament u have to start over. with the tournament. first u game one goblin witch u may win like all the time, and then u have the secound one witch will beat u like a billion times, the third ones not so hard but he will woopup on u in the tournament but hes not as badd as the secound gobin. Now that u beat thos three u have to get thre Reganal dice from there sister... and she is a bitch u get a small cut sence (realy corny)... ok now u have the dice, head back to lower jeuno and give to that gobin in the hallway.. oh its not over yet u have a syco thief thats insaine that wants to kill u u have a choice if ur gonna live or die. well if u live he'll sign the letter..now thats 2 signatures and now u head back to windurst. to that cat burglar thief lady (lol) and she'll give u ur bonnet

What do you mean pot hat, that kayo person although some of his text is Incredibly Tough to read he was referring to the rogue bonnet, that is for thief, it looks nothing like the rng af hat, the only similarities between the two is that they are both green. The Rogue Bonnet doesn't have a leaf, fyi.

I don't understand the sadistic pleasure brought on by getting a bunch of people killed. Intentional training is just wrong. Some people think that doing it to someone they think is a jerk and did them wrong is justified but I agree with people who say "what about everyone else?" There's NO excuse for it. You want to train for farming, np, just please stay away from people who need the mobs to level or get their keys, or whatever. Sometimes accidents happen and that's fine, and sometimes it's even funny if you don't take your deaths too seriously. A high level showing lower level people how to get their kicks when THEY become high level is jacked up though. GJ for doing the right thing Megatron.

Dammit some guy did a intentional train of fun at Davoi. Over 20 Orcs and I was with my friend so we were a 47drk and a 41 drk. We died instantly. Imagine having over 20 orcs hitting you at once I couldn't even move my char. ><

My friend and me were in the middle of getting rank 5 for airship pass. Since we couldn't find any high lvl help we had to do it ourselvs. Safe to say a lot and I mean a lot of deaths.

That bastard that trained those orcs for fun killing us I reported him to GM but I don't know if it will help any. That guy was probably a chinese gil farmer.

as for the DRK AF get it no AF is cake and even if its not the best armor in the world people still examine you and see you dont have it it may hirt your partying. pluss the newbie freak out when they see you in it . it gives them something to shoot for

as for the train god do i hate TRAINS!

I got AF for 6 jobs, I'm probably one of a few people that has AF for more than 2-3 jobs. First time always sucks cause your low level and you've never done it before. But after you get a few levels, you can start the AF quest and fight the NM as your higher job. This does not work with coffers.

No AF horror story here. My RL friend and I were farming last night when he decided to get his AF1 early (he's a 41 DRK). We went to Giddeous with gimped THF subs and got the help of 2 JP high levels. Rivius and Fomraton (sp?) were camping Torrent but still were happy to help. The battle was quick and decisive. I even managed to pull off a 300% TP SA as a PLD. The damage was kind of sad but it was funny. I guess the "horror" for this was more for the NM than for us. :)

An Astro ring is a level 1 all jobs item that gives +2 to your communicate with future space dogs ability. Not sure what an Astal ring is, bit would love to here the stats on it. ;)
