Hi Cerberus. Anyone else notice the odd leveling these days?
Feel free to add

First: If you are going to invite someone to a party, please don't do your OP quests in the middle of them- I don't care if you are the WHM, it should'nt matter. YOU invite to a pt- be ready to pt. ( I actually had someone say to me in /tell I am the whm, you have to wait for me and I am doing a quest.

BS! You invited me, I ran to valkurm and you kept going from Ronafure to Sandy while we waited over 30 mins, get prepared lady! Yes, their are expected waiting times, especially in Valkurm- but come on!

Second: Come prepared. Why would you know you are close to leveling and not show up with proper gear? You don't have to have a lot of gil and you don't have to have the best gear for sure but to come pantless till you are the next level cause you only wanna wear thost pants is just ridiculous.
Seriously, you were the tank, pantsless? omg..

Third- Stop with the annoying macros. I don't wanna see {Take that} {Meat} {Pole} {Long Time} every time you provoke...

Nuff said.

lol, these days?

I rememebr posts exactly like this 5 years ago.

It used to be the brds who had the "I'm indespensible so i'll call the shots" attitude. Actually these days tanks are rarer than healers so that whm probably won't last long doing that.

Some people with high level characters feel its acceptable to not buy low level gear and level through the dunes naked / semi naked on subsequent jobs.

I see merit partys with annoying macros - some people are just idiots.

Two i'd like to add:

Fourth - dont join a party for those 30 minutes before your LS event then leave with no notice saying "Sorry LS needs me"

Fifth - My personal favourite - you can't take crabs at level 10 with no mage or dispel. The reason for party wiping is "Crap Leadership" and "Wrong choice of camp" not "We need a powerleveller"

Try to give at least a 30-20 minute notice before you have to leave a PT. Try to look for a replacement during that time.

Whenever I suggest against toning down the difficulty of the game, I always got flamed :( Come on now, if I want to play a brain dead game, I am going to Dynasty Warrior or Call for Duty. Leave my FFXI as it is, and force the players to be less stupid. >_> The really thing I do not like about FFXI is takes too long to farm triggers and grinder, but at least try to make people to team work more. :P

I have to agree with Amanada 100%. I think the best expansion so far was CoP, without a doubt, because it was hard and challenged your partys to work as a team/think outside the loop. Capping the fights meant you couldn't get through the missions by throwing 75s at it (like zilart)

Only thing that has disappointed me, is people cryed so much about how hard CoP was that Aht Urghan missions were laughable. Most was a series of CS with no actual missions. The only 2 fights that were remotely challenging was the last two and even then nothing compared to CoP.

I would prefer to fail 10 times in a row at a mission and get that great feeling of acomplishment when I finally beat it than throw a party of 75s at a fight designed for level 50s just to get through it.

CoP is not hard. Getting a "compitent" group together to finish CoP is where the challange is.

I've done CoP just enough times to finish the promies but till this day I still haven't. Somewhere along the line SOMETHING happens and the sh*t hits the fan....

To add to the The Do's and Don'ts...

Learn how to Skill Chain. Promote Skill Chaining **** it....please!
I know is not ALWAYS required on PTs depending on the MOB but for ***** sake nobody ever SCs anymore!

i have to disagree at 50% yes getting a good pt for COP is hard. But as a person who did COP when it first came out i have to say that there's a lot of mission where we wiped 2-3times (like mammets and airship + the mithra BC) and when the promys wern't gimped like today.

I remember paying 600k meds/airship run. That was hard because we didn't had all the omgwtf gear that is out today and all the merits that we have today.

while exemple ToA if you wiped in a mission even if it was a first try would be ashamed because there is not any challenge compared to the old COP.

so in term of difficulty personally

Nations > TOA > Zilart > OLD COP (can't place WoG not out long enough yet)

CoP appeared to be harder in the beginning because people do not know the debuff items really played a very large role in winning. Once people know about those items better, it gets easier: imo, it becomes closer at the right difficulty level. It is even easier now with the boss weaken further, but you still kind of need the debuff items.

IMO, even it is a little too easy now. I do agree it is not right that no one can clear the missions, but at the same time it should not be watered too down. Right now, it is too easy.

A lot of people do play want to have things for show instead of earning the win. Really, something people wanted is not necessary a good thing, but do we really deserve no better than ourselves?

Mission got too watered down because of the players.
HNM drama is as bad as it is because of the players.
People prefer someone else fix their own problems instead of fixing themselves.

It sucks a lot of people do prefer something to show for and stamp collection instead of actual challenge. It is really hard to balance difficulty and appeasement.

Well yeah I agree with both of you on that. I just seem to have a run of bad luck when it came to CoP promys.

CoP was the most fun for me, even though there were several times I felt depressed.

Main for Promies to come prepared. Not just with the animas, but with all your other meds too. Lost Holla because no one but me had poison pots so most of the time was spent me waking everyone. I had 2, enough for the battle.

I also wish people would sc more, bring back BLM and MBing, that was my favorite part about BLM and when everyone went to spamming ws instead of scing, that was why BLM started to do burn parties. It bring more order to the fights imo.

TP burning come into existence when some smarter melee finally know their "potential". The smart players discover TP burn. I think a better way to say the problem of TP burn is that people do not understand when to TP burn and not too, when to SC is beneficial and when is not.

I do agree, leveling BLM now is a lot different now. I really do prefer not to resort to solo pets and manaburn -- it is boring as ****, and I can only stand manaburning with buddies. It is hard to play a job when you do not like how to level up. There is a limit in going efficient and actually playing the game, and resorting to solo only (BST is kind of different, and literally is own beast) defeats the original purpose of multi-player game.

I think people need to re-examine their logic when they level a job, or a bring a job to some event -- you are out there to play and have fun, numbers and gear are interesting. But if you are not having fun because you obsessed with numbers and gear, does not you defeat the purpose of gaming?

If you cannot afford Silent Oil, Prism Powder and food, you should be farming, but not events that may require the above. Whether cheap or expensive, you have to pay for that :P

Take a nap, Sevv, though late at night is usually when all the good parties seem to happen.

This reminds me of something: I find quite a bit of PT problems (not all of course, a big decent fraction) -- people suddenly leaving, some people think they know better, bringing PL to PT and then show it completely gimp -- to be driven by players having too busy and too much of themselves because of their apparent prestige doing events. Some players have lost sight they are just being another player.

It is ok to be doing a lot of events, but just expect others to force to work with you so you can both do your stuff and stuff with strangers.

This is usually why I don't seek unless I have 2hrs or more open, and if something like khim is open, i will tell the leader there is a chance I may have to leave once an hour etc.
