Question about server population...Follow

Okay, some of you might know me, I dunno, but I've been playing for quite a long time, but I took some very long extended breaks. I've recently given up the Red Mage job. I don't like the changes in the way the job is played anymore since ToAU. (Thanks SE...) Aside from that, and more to the point of this thread. I've recently decided to level monk. Now here's my problem. I'm at 21 right now, soloed almost all the way due to the fact that I couldn't find parties. It's not cause I'm a monk, I know monks have had problems finding parties in the past. It's just that every time I'm on and seeking, there are maybe 2 or 3 other people seeking in my level range, and maybe 1 party total.

Is this servers population dwindling, or does nobody even bother with lower level classes anymore? I know everyone and their grandmother is doing everything, and anything they can with ToAU. I've searched at levels above mine too, to get a sense of how populated the next leveling zone is, and it seems to always be the same thing, very few people, and maybe 1 or 2 parties total. I remember awhile back, when you couldn't go 2 feet in Khazam, or the jungles without running into a party, and always had problems finding a decent camp, cause they were all taken.

Sorry to go on like that, I'm just frustrated, cause I recently came back, to what seemed like nothing... I don't feel like soloing, if I wanted to solo I'd go back to playing WoW. :/ Just wondering if someone could shed some light on this, or do I just have bad timing and this is just a dead time durring the year? On another note, if anyone is looking for a Monk for a Static Party, let me know. :D I do not plan on being a mediocre monk, I plan on putting everything I can into the job, as I do with every job. Thanks for all who read this, and those that comment.

Well, for starters, there aren't as many people levelling low level jobs anymore. But the expansion is coming, so that'll change soon.

Also, I find it really depends on your timezone/playtime available. During the day for me, there are very, very few lower level parties most times, but a decent amount in the evening. Keep in mind that for many, it was back-to-school time last month, so that's part of it.

I find that it's really hit-and-miss for lower level invites for me lately. Often, I only get playtime during the day, and not much is going on. But, evenings and weekends (Eastern time, at least) are much better.

All I can say is stick it out, the expansion will mean more people levelling new jobs. :P

Ah, you do bring a good point, and one I had forgotten about- School. I forgot this is the time most do go back to school. And another thing I hadn't considered was that the last time I came back, was just around when ToAU was released, and there were tons of parties in all levels. So, yeah, you're probably right. I just hate soloing, I tried BST once, and it wasn't for me... maybe cause I'm mithra? :P Ah well though. I'll stick it out, maybe I'll take the time to do some farming for items I'll need for monk later on, as I plan to take the job to 75. Thanks for the reply. :)

Hey now, Mithra BST works fine - it's all I really level now, and mine is 63. :P
