(Master Shake impersonation): And what's this "High School" you speak of?

This happens to me every day around 6 o'clock.. I will be mid conversation, my send/recieve is flawless... then BAM! FFXI has shut down, and I can't get back on for 20 min.

This happens regionally, I have confirmed. Every player in my city for sure is kicked at the exact same time. (we call each other when it happens lol)

Todays kick happened as leetfade and a few others were just heading out for our bone party. I am trying to get back in, but I am worried they will give up and replace me.

Anyone know the ip address to "ping" for POL or the FFXI servers?

I am sure this is linked to DDoS, and the measures they take to protect themselves. This DDoS has gone on for months, but it usually just made logging in difficult. This random kick is a new symptom.

He was the guy who got hit in the head with an apple and it gave him an epiphany about Gravity. That was in grade school. He was never mentioned once in high school. Can I sue my school district over this?

Had another "Insta-Boot" last night. Took a half hour to log back on. Grrrrr. I realize (somewhat) the variables involved with the internet, but we are paying for this service. And you can't tell me SE is too poor to fix the problem. I guess there just isn't a large enough customer base in the affected areas to warrant an investment. And just when a new Age of Empires is coming out...

Ok people. LoL. First the off topic stuff. I studied physics, calculus, and architectural enginering in high school so I know who Newton is. However, I'll be going to my 10 year reunion come May/June so it's not like I remember that crap. LoL. The only thing I remember from my advanced high school courses (let alone the normal courses) is the building requirements and interior/exterior wall spacings.

My physics teacher taught straight out of the book and flipped when I told her that the human audibility range she spewed was incorrect. From that point on it was in one ear and out the other. LoL.

Now for this f'n DDOS or w/e they want to call it. I'm beyond fed up with it. As a Network Engineer I know that if I were to run any of our clients networks like this, we would no longer have the client. It is ridiculous for them to take this long to fix this issue. They should have fail-safe measures in place for when something like this happens. They obviously do not.

If you figure 1 million members (what they quoted a while back) at $15 a month (figure everyone has at least one or two mules), I would think that somewhere in that ridiculous some of revenue they can find a way to assure 95% uptime. A monthly maintenance is wise and should be implemented, but this is daily drops. When I got back on there were only 1600 people on Cerberus. That's crazy. Do your job and fix your networks.

And I would gladly point out that Georgia ranked last in education during the 90s. I learned about him in the 10th grade. Yea I know pretty late.

Now the question is who is being DDOSed... It may not even been SE being DDOSed to start problems.

There is recently a thread in main forums about DDOS and there is a mention about outdated and poorly maintained switchboards. Let take this scenario:

SE -- "We got customer calls that they can't access our network because your network center is having problem."
Another company online #1 -- "Ya, we get same problems from you too."
Another company online #2 -- "Me too."
Network switchboard owner -- "S**U Noob! My networkz are fine! Cost me le money to fix. Now show me 10 million buckz and I fix my networkz!"

I think the big Black Out last few year is actually caused by a similar issue that a poorly maintained power grid causes a domino effect started from like 1 power station (Ohio or NY), and that causes the whole a big fraction power grid of East Coast, Great Lakes and Southern Canada to shut down.

Poorly maintained networks and power grids are caused by people unwilling to put money into fix it... That would mean a rise of ISP or power cost, and customers cry out if ISP and power companies raise charges... In the end, we pay what we get >.<

Similar things apply to CO2 emmissions... The only way to fix air pollution from cars to reduce amount of cars in the roads. That means you have to raise gas price or tax. Guess who will complain again ;p

I've been dealing with this for a week now. Everynight i get kicked out at least once. Like someone noted above, it's not the typical DC where everything freezes for a bit then boots you.

One second i'll be fighting away, then poof... connection is lost. However, unlike others, I can not reconnect to POL for about 10-15 mins.

I get POL-0006 error for the first few minutes, then an occasional POL-0010. Then it will let me back in.

During this time, I still have connectivity to the internet so I don't think it has to do with my ISP...

All I know is that its getting pretty annoying...

Well, I've been d/cing every twenty minutes like clockwork for the past two weeks. My internet is fine on my computers, so it must be a server somewhere down the line. What's rough is that it started the day after I paid my monthly fees. So I've got two weeks, thus far, of zero game time; but I'm paying the fees anyway. I've e-mailed SE and they haven't gotten back to me. I may have to hang it up, because it doesn't make sense to pay for something you can't use.

first they have to admit that they are from singapore. teqrain keeps insisting he's from Aus, and peiling hasn't spoken a word. ;) well, not to me.

I was having this problem of disconnecting multiple times daily for the past 2 months. The worse thing, like Leet brought up, is that the internet works flawlessly so the only problem it can be is POL. Well I had 11 straight days of no disconnecting. It was beautiful. I went through an entire Kirin fight and Dynmais with no boot. I was actually having fun. But now...after the update, I got booted on the way to Ifrit. Got back on, went back down, got back on, went back down. Gave it 5 mins, then I was back on. Internet is fine. Then I decide to leave my character on overnight to test it, and I wake up this morning with a disconnection. I just want to know, since my internet is working flawless, is it something I can help or am I at the mercy of SE again. It seemed it was going good when I had that 11 days stretch. Bah o well send me a PM and I'll be glad to talk about this more.

First, I attributed it to "Bard lag", not that I ever got it on my PC before...but I figured it might have been.

Once I got out of that party, and was farming and crafting a bit, just running around...yeah, I noticed the lag. Like mass crafting isn't slow enough already. x_x

Post-update, I've been getting a lovely combination of d/cs outta nowhere, and mad lag...and it sure isn't my connection. :(
