Gilfarming companies that push their employees to extremes are the evil here. The sad fact of it is that because of that the Chineese players and gilfarming employees are in the direct line of fire... not the CEO of the company. He probably doesn't even know HOW to play the game, it's just another profit venture to him.

It is sometimes to sad to hear profits all people care about. From an investor point of view, sometimes it is tempting to invest in the most profitable company even company is alleged to have questionable pracitices.

But again, I still believe it is the consumers "fault" that leads to all of this. Who wants to pay more when it can be cheaper? If people do not think buying gil is a neccesity, then gil will not be this cheap. For most cases, it is the consumers created the market, not the business themselves.

Ah but consumers are easy to manipulate. Do you need a toilet brush with a disposable head to "flush away the germs"? Hell no not if you're using the proper cleaning solutions. Does it sound like a great thing when put on TV and forced itno your brain? Sure it does.

Fact of the matter is that american consumers are too susecpable to suggestive marketing. Why spend hours of your life camping for that uber ring of leet pwnage, competing with other ruthless players and gilfarmers, when you could just buy $15 in gil and have it now? Then you'll get extra days of enjoyment out of it.... instead of enjoying the process of getting it.

People need to think about what they're paying for and if they need it and it's worth it, but americans are a lazy impatient bunch, and that's why our companies (and other countrie's companies) are so prosperous off us.

The racism IS unfair. Hell I admit that its not right, because of the ignorance of others, some really good players are developing "false" reputations. More than anything, Flying needs to be dealt with. People are viewing all Chinese players to be like Flying, and we know thats not the truth. The same can be said for other countries viewing Americans as loud, noisy, obnoxious, womanizing and rude people, which again, we know not all Americans are so. If more people were educated about forgein countries, (god forbid the average american to actually pick up a book and READ it), less of this crap would actually happen...

ps: I'm American. It just so happen's im not close-minded, which many seem to be.

WOOHOO! PREPARE FOR THE RATE-DOWNS ON BASHING AMERICAN CULTURE!

Then I agree with that..coming to the US wont solve anything..

What will you do? Do you go MPK to save your job or do you take the risk to be fired? I am sure to a lot of people that is an easy decision. I am not saying MPKing is correct in game rules. TOS gives a standard of judgement from a specific view point. You agree to that standard and use that as a frame of reference to say MPKing is wrong.

I'd get fired. -.-

What does it matter if MPK is against the TOS to them? Their existence based on their purpose is against the TOS.

In their shoes? I MPK all day long.

I'd get a real job, one that doesn't involve playing a video game. Maybe one that involves any type of actual work, like normal ppl.

I'm sure that the next Philosophy Major will come and chime in with there dime store babble, but I have nothing more to say about this entire subject.

And what is a "real job"? Something where you go in, provide labor, get paid, and it's all legal within the local laws? I'm wondering if you've ever had to get a "real job" and put food on the table before. When you have bills to pay, you don't exactly get picky. If I found a job where I was on a computer all day, didn't have to interact with customers on a "professional" level (i.e. be polite and respectful) and it paid my bills and kept my family fed, why would I turn it down? So what if it effects the quality of a game some kids play on the other side of the world? Its not like it is causing some sort of life threatening harm to them.

Open your mind and stop being a nieve child. This is a normal job to them, they come in, do what their boss tells them to, get paid, and go home to their families.

Fraid not, playing a game on a computer is NOT a real job, apparently you do NOT read very well, so let me say this again....I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ALL GIL SELLERS, only the MPK'n chumps which you are defending. Also to correct your assumption that I am a child, who doesn't pay any bills.

WOW you think you know ALOT about me huh, let me enlighten you then. I'm 24, I moved out of my parents and got an appartment at 16 worked AND finished High School while living on my own. Next year I will be graduating from FSU, with a BA in business, I did this BY MY GD self. I owe tons of gil err money(:P) for student loans, but I worked my way here so don't go talking to me like I'm your ******* child.

Another thing, it's not MY fault that these Flying ***** can't get a regular job, so why should I have to pay for them being morons? There are tons of ppl that work in jobs that you seem to think bellow you where it doesn't have a negative effect on ppl what the **** makes them so special that they get to abuse ppl? You also talk like you know EACH AND EVERY one of these ppl saying

You don't know if they have families, you ONCE AGAIN are assuming this, and remember what happened last time you assumed something? If you need a reminder please read the first 2 paragraphs again...

This is why there is never a shortage of people willing to do telemarketing or bill collecting.

I honestly don't give two ***** if this is considered a "real" job or not. These people are making things difficult for others. No longer in a way that means you have to buy a hairpin instead of camp a bug for it.

Nope now they're holding entire areas hostage.

As far as where they're at or what race they are? Who cares? I don't give a damn if I got mpk'd by some dude named Jim in Wichitaw or (insert name that's as popular as Jim in China) or (insert name that's as popular as the previous two in Europe) I pay the same ammount of money and do not deserve to be treated like dirt because some SOB has decided that he'd rather do this then work at Wendy's or in a rice paddy or whatever it is they f'ing do in Europe.

Yes I've seen the posts. Having come to terms with the fact that I will never reach "endgame" in probably any game I touch, I have a very different view on the matter of "uber gear" it seems. It happens in WoW too, but there the issue isn't "gilsellers" but rather looting of dropped gear... who's "allowed" to roll on an item they can use...

It really seems like you spend levels 1 to cap-1 making friends and the start making enemies over items.

Here's something I recommend, it's helped me out twice now and made me happier each time (the move to WoW and the move back to FFXI). You're pissed off about something, sit down and asses the situation. What's the cause? Who's fault (really, be honest) is it? What is the company doing to fix it? What's going to be the new problem when it is fixed? Taking all that into consideration.... ARE YOU HAVING FUN?

When I left FFXI it was because a number of things were making the game not fun for me. It felt like a job, not a game. WoW had lots of things I liked better so I left.

Now my BF gets a job that pays great but lots of hours. He's not playing WoW anymore. I tried to play solo and I realized I hated it. I need people to level with, that's the whole game to me is building friendships along the way. One of my guildies said "FFXI!" and I said "static party?" ... suddenly there's almost a dozen of us coming back. Some just for a change, some are leaving WoW, or left already.

So yea, ask yourself, is Flying ruining my fun or has their disruption surfaced some deeped displeasure with this game? Do you think SE will do anything about the MPKs? Does it even really matter or not if you get that uber sword of leet pwnage? Will you be happier or not? What has SE done latly to earn your money?

Only you can answer those for yourself.

Well now that you are no longer attacking me I can come out of Attack mode myself...SE has made some great attempts at putting gil sellers out of business with the low lvl items EMP, P.CHARM, etc. etc.. but as the OP stated it seems that is has back fired. Us folks doing end game are now having to deal with Flying MPK EXP ptys at Ulli(A NM that drops pop items for sky HNM), and anywhere they go.

Hell I was in Kuftal Tunnel last night skilling up Axe (186 ^^) when here comes Thin, as well as 5 other LS mates with 4 or 5 Haunts, and countless Crabs and Spiders. I zoned waited a few and came back sneak up then I go back to the Amemit room to see a dead 50-53 XP pty. Turns out they MPK them then ran the train up to me and my friend skilling up just in case we were gonna go after Amemit when the window was up. Ok now if you're a scumbag MPK'r then I can understand MPK me and a HL PLD....but come on what possible threat to getting Amemit could a pty of low 50's have possibly posed. So it may not have anything to do with you....till you are camped for EXP in a place where they want a NM.

OK IDC if you call my mother a ***** I'm done with this thread, I usually don't even go for the Drama BS, but after seeing that last night first hand what Flying does....I had to say something so rate me down some more if you wish....

I don't know how you high levels feel about it, but I personally hope that making the lowlevel NM drop EX was just a "test" to see if it would work. If SE starts making all NM drops like this it's going to have a bit of a double effect at putting gilsellers out of business. Essentially (as I see it) it's going to change the "value" of gil into more of a crafter/farmer market.

Of course the PKers would start doing it to miners instead... interesting conundrum. Perhaps SE should look into changing the mechanics of mob aggro so that training onto other players is harder to do. WoW's mechanism is that when a mob "leashes" (is pulled a certain distance from where they were aggroed/attacked) they reset back, and during the reset they don't attack anyone and all damage to them is evaded. Heck this would help with those gobbie trains to the Kazham zone and the massives ones I've seen in Crawler's nest.

I myself have never bought nor sold gil, so I qualify under this prerequisite of yours.

You know what? While the MPKing that's going on is really, REALLY wrong, it's not even the worst of it.

The worst part?

SE IS DOING NOTHING TO THESE PEOPLE.

In one of the other threads concerning the actions of the Flying/Huixiang LS, there was a chatlog posted by Moreana. I happen to know Moreana, and would feel secure in betting money that the log was displayed without transformation.

(Note: For the sake of argument and simplicity, I'm just going to assume the chatlog mentioned was indeed 100% correct. I understand that others might not assume the same, so keep this in mind when you read the following.)

If you read the chatlog of the first MPK on Simurgh, you'll see that a GM was -already- watching. So we KNOW that the GMs are well aware of what is happening. Granted, the players' conduct in speaking to the GM may have been out of line, but the fact of the matter is, the GM didn't show even so much as an acknowledgment that the MPK even happened. What was he(she?) worried about?

Aww. The pwayers hurt da widdle GM's feewings.

That's like a cop standing there watching a robbery, and refusing to do anything because the guy behind the counter, the one WITH THE GUN POINTED AT HIS HEAD, said, "Come on, god dammit, aren't you going to help me?" to him.

I don't know about any of you guys, but I am becoming severely disenchanted with the actions of SE and the GMs that they employ... really fast. While probably not the best thing to shout at the time, one of the MPK'd players was shouting about how GMs claim to be fair, yet won't do their goddamned job.

Aside from their lack of grammar, I couldn't have said it better myself.

All I have to say is, Square Enix - you need to get your **** straight, FAST. I have three accounts myself (one for me, one for my brother, and one I took over as a mule account when one of my friends quit, before you people start saying "account buyer" and crap like that). I enjoy the game, I've put countless hours into building levels and relationships and helping my friends out... but I refuse to be a part of something that treats its customers like giant walking dollars with keyboards.

Get your act together, or I can guarantee the removal of at least four accounts (not to mention the hundreds of others that I'm sure they'll lose soon), which will end up costing you $67.80 a month. Sure, it's chump change to you... but multiply that by more and more people leaving in disgust.

Not so pretty now, is it?

/rant off

Sigh... I'm just sick and tired of how SE claims to do things to help us, and then when in the very face of conflict, seems to sit back and do nothing.

On top of this, I'm actually considering boycotting -all- SE products. I know it sounds extreme, but that's how utterly ridiculous I think this is.

To those of you who have read all the way down to here, congratulations and thank you for your time. I would be glad to discuss things with you.

To those of you who read six lines of my post and are going to quote me and whine over what little you read, get bent.

Ah, don't you just love nice people? XD

I agree with you Speedly, SE doesn't seem to care about gil sellers, MPKing, or botters (With the GM call I made today, I know for a fact now that you can't rely on a GM for anything)

To me, the only way we can have SE take action against them is if we start to MPK them every chance we get, a low tactic yes, but at this point, I don't see any other choice except to fight fire with fire untill SE starts to find this as a concern and takes action to the gil seller's accounts instead of making the situation worse

in response to mob...

one who sells gil has a job of sitting in front of a computer and making real money... much like i make money by selling my products on ebay. what makes a job a "real job"?

in response to others...

yeah... i'd it if SE took care of this situation. what do you suggest they do? i'm completely against kicking people out of the game because you *think* they are gil sellers. there must be indisputable proof.

i have a friend who camped VE for three months straight at one time who was accused of selling gil.... little did they know that he was giving away the hairpins to LS members.... he never got one for himself... go figure.

so... food for thought... if you're in charge, how would you handle this situation?

I don't know about you, but I have no problem with kicking ANYONE with a reasonable amount of proof. (Note the wording. I didn't say "an undeniable amount.")

But even past that, this isn't about SE revoking gilsellers' accounts.

This is about SE getting off their asses and revoking MPKers' accounts. It just so happens that (it seems that) the most MPKs come from known gilsellers.

And yet... and yet, SE sits around and does nothing.

Sigh...

well yeah... i agree that anyone involved in an MPK numerous times should be removed from the game after first being given a warning.

a GM will suspend people who have been reported for an MPK with some proof of the incident. i dont know if the rules are a little different if it involves, as in this case, an entire linkshell. i'm sure the average GM will think twice before kicking 30 people from the game. kicking that many people, he better have all his proof because some higher up WILL question it.

the only way i can see to get results in this case is keep reporting every violation so they have a record built up. eventually they'll be gone

I just made another post regarding Thin and his MPK and harassment tactics.

But this wasn't on high level people camping uber gear. This was in Qufim island at the crab pond.

Yes. Thin spent all of Friday night ******** over countless low level XP parties in an effort to control the most popular L.20-22 camp in the game.

It's no longer an issue of being a Gil seller. There was no gil at stake here. It was pure malice. Thin was claiming and calling for help on every crab and worm he could find. A 75 PLD can damn near shut down Quifim. On a few occasions he would bring aoe mobs in the heart of XP parties to MPK them or drive them away.

For those defending these people that this is just a job, tell me this. If you hang up on a telemarketer, do they make threatening calls back every 20 minutes at 2AM every night, or run a pickup truck through your flowerbed because you hurt their livelihood?

That reasoning doesn't quite work. SE will eventually take action against these players, though who knows how long before they do. When they do, it's fairly likely they will boot them for MPKing, not gilfarming (as it's likly the players that farm and the players that actually sell/deliver the gil to the customer are totally different). When they do take action against the MPKers, what makes you think they would only suspend those who attacked first and not the ones "fighting fire with fire". Defending one rule by breaking another is rather hypocritical don't ya think?

Considering their pasthistory with MPKing gilsellers (honestly this is no diff than those who overran Ordelle's a year ago, it's just more widespread) it will take them a good few wonths before they take action. I honestly wish SE was more protective of thier game like Blizzard is. WoW got hit with the mass Casino spam and within a week Blizz declared it against the rules and laid down the law, run a casino and you'll lose your account. The casinos stopped quite literally overnight.

It sounds like to me that Blizzard knows how to run an MMORPG...
#50 Aug 20 2005 at 7:47 PM Rating: Excellent
I think it's mare a matter of Blizzard was trying to show that they were not afraid to law down the law and, hopefully, scare the populace into playing by the rules. Who knows, maybe SE was the same way when the game first retailed in Japan.

Nonetheless I think SE should be treating this in at most a "three strkes" manner. One report you get warned, two you get a tempban, three you're gone. No, they shouldn't ban a whole LS because a few members broke the rules, they're asking for trouble if they did that, but they can make a swift example of players who are intentionally and malisciously (sp?) making the game unplayable for others.

Yeah, I do see your reasoning there Tekkub, pretty much I want to know the real reason why GMs won't do anything, but getting them to admit that is easier said then done.

The only reasons I can think of are:

1) There are very few GMs - Anyone that called a GM knows it takes forever for to a reply, and if you ever seen the requirments to become a GM, that would be another reason for the lack of authority

2) They don't have time to investigate - With a lack of GMs, they can't investigate anything in time to take any real action

3) They have way too tight assed rules to go by - GMs are pretty much like cops, they don't make the law, just enforce it, but SE seemed to take it to another level where the GMs can't use their own judgement on the situation, they need solid proof for any call, but since they can't investigate it, they can't do anything

How to fix it, I don't know, unless they made player-admins, which I doubt will ever happen.

Or maybe try to find a way to make RMT companies like MOGS/IGE against the law

*sigh* I still find it sad that I probably did more in 3 months on my old admin for the old RPG I played than all these GMs did combined
