Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has ever wondered... "What in the world is that icon next to Hypersakura's name?!" It's like a little yellow and green leaf put together, anybody got any ideas?

Damn it... I've seen that too. And if I don't find out what the heck it is, I'm gonna lose my mind.
I was on my taru (Madine) today, and saw sakura, though I was telling her over and over for like 20 minutes, she kept talking about god knows what.

Me:"Please, can you just tell me what it is?"
Sakura:"don't cry hunny :o"
Me:"....?"

I've seen this before, someone said something about you get this icon signing in as a guest I think on POL, not exactly sure on that, but I have seen a Taru wear it before I did LV. 20 Garrison with a few friends at West Ron. and then after that, they were a different race, forgot which race it was though

I've seen online and heard from others that this Chevron-looking icon is for Guest accounts. Hypersakura could be the account SE uses at conventions and such to display the game and let people get hands-on with it. Again, I'm not 100% sure on this, its just what I've heard.

That's exactly what it is. An account that SE uses for gaming conventions, gaming magazines, etc. When they want to show the game off, they create accounts that get that Icon.

So hypersakura is actually a staffer? I heard something similliar that she was a gm, but I thought to myself that GM's don't usually SHOW OFF that they are gms. (They play on other characters most of the time I would guess, also they do not appear on /sea all 'name'.) AND the actual GM chars mostly just appear when they are needed for emergencies or helping chars who are stuck.

No... it's an account that SE has enabled for people to try the game on. Either for reviewing purposes, or for showing off at conventions and what not.

The official term is "Trial Adventurer." Theoretically there could be a variety of characters on with this, but I have only seen Hypersakura.

The individual is someone who is checking out the game at a convention, store demo or at the company offices. It might be a customer, dealer or member of the press. As far as I know this has never been used outside Japan. Sometimes the player speaks English, but none I have spoken with has ever known the meaning of the icon. I have been the one to explain it several times. ^^

Edit:

Fascinating — late last night (later than I should have been up) I saw Hypersakura in Jeuno as a LVL23 something-or-other with a subjob. I'd love to know the story behind a "temporary" character leveling that high, but apparently he logged just as I was about to try and ask.
