I have summoner to level 70 with no sub job, I think summoner might be hard for me to fight maat. Is there an easy way to beat him?

Don't follow advice based on karma/postcount alone. Listen to everything and make your own decision based on what you've learned.

What do u mean you dont have a subjob? you never unlocked the subjob ability or your subjob is just vastly underlevled? if you go look up the quest itll give you basic startegies on how to beat him. It might take a try or two but unless your fighting RDM Maat hes beatable fairly easily.

I think he means that he doesn't get to use his subjob in the fight against Maat.

I've seen a few strategies for the fight, basically you'll need to stock up on some ethers, yags, and stuff beforehand, as you'll be trying to win with your Astral Flow bloodpacts and you won't have the chance to rest mp.

The guides suggest using your blink and stoneskin BPs before the fight, then choosing an avatar that's strong against the one Maat summons. If he uses Ifrit, you want Leviathan, for example. Then have your avatar run in and blast Maat and his avatar with your astral flow, use ethers to restore mp, and repeat until he gives up.

Sounds to me like one of those Summonnres who got shoved into the main healer category and never learned how to use avatars correctly as a result. It's really not their fault either, so much as the fault of the playerbase and to a lesser extent the mechanics of the job, but I digress.

I would imagine that if you did it the same way you do the level 20 avatar fights it should work out okay but I'm not a level 70 SMN so I can't say for sure. Level 66->67 WHM (Miratete's Memoirs midfight for the level up and HP/MP) was a breeze though.

And that post needed a reatedown why? If you can't be bothered to speak up and tell me why I'm wrong, you can sit on it and rotate.

I've heard RDM was one of the harder ones. Most RDM I've talked to about it say it's all a matter of luck; if you pop chainspell and he hits you with silence, or worse, paralyze, it's all over.

BRD I imagine can't be terribly easy either. You gotta go borrow or buy a set of melee gear, skill up your sword to a decent level, and then try to fight him.

Most melee jobs are pretty much the same thing... opo necklace, sleep pot to get TP, 2HR if applicable, WS him, I Wing, WS him again, and then just beat him down.

THF Maat is hit or miss if you just go for the steal method; load up on all the +Steal gear you can and pray. If you melee him instead, then you have a little more control over the situation but it's not a terribly fun fight I imagine, given that the bulk to THF are used to /NIN and having Utsusemi and a second dagger from the last 46 levels.

BLM Maat is just nuke him, stun him, try to sleep him, nuke him, try to sleep him, nuke him. Or you can just nuke your heart out.

WHM Maat has the advantage of having an alternative win mmethod like THF: you just need to outlast him for 5 minutes. You can either accomplish this the expensive way by loading up on drinks and potions and elixirs and ethers or the cheap way by going into the fight @500ish or so and when you're down to 200 HP and 50 MP, flash him and pop miratete's memoirs. Shultz Strategem/Ginuva's Theory/Dragon Chronicles would work too but you;kk need to be a lot closer to level. I went in level 66, 12 xp to 67.
