I've recently come back to FFXI after a long break, and find the waiting time for groups (even if you are making a party, it can still be tiresome) is pretty much ridiculous to what it should be.
As I have jobs over a wide range of levels, it can be annoying as the majority of members in my main LS sit on their higher leveled jobs for sky/events/farming.
I have a brand new Linkshell sitting in my inventory right now, and am tossing up between naming it CaitsithXPLinkshell or some such thing; sitting in Jeuno/Whitegate and /sh'ing every 10 minutes for anyone who wants a pearl. The way I see it, the LS itself would be a great idea as an infinite amount of people could have the pearl (obviously only 64 on at a time) and then if you wish to level a job you could equip the pearl, find others also looking for a party, form the party and then switch back to your main LS.
I've been leveling white mage, bard and corsair which one would think are jobs that would find groups relatively quickly, yet i've been waiting hours for groups and if I do decide to form my own, there's never the right amount of people looking who are willing to head to Qufim/Yutungha.
Is this worth doing or am I just being dumb as usual?

While this is a great idea in theory, it seems to me(I could be wrong), that it may fall to the wayside as one of those shells for specific events like Garrison, or something similar. Unless you only invite people in a certain time zone, you really don't know when you'll see certain people. If you do know when you'll see them, you're far better off making a static/LS just for the 6 of you to get things done. If you have more than 6 but not quite 12, to make a party, some are going to feel left out.
My best suggestion would be to find an active social LS that you can join with the intention of being a part of the community. Once you're apart of the community, you can then say "Hey, anyone interested in staticing from say 20-75+?" and go from there. Most people in game are pretty set in their ways and will be very hesitant to leave their current LS to join another one only to level a job; have to also remember that inventory space is hard to come by so another pearl is -1 inventory space. XD
If you do still decide to make your own LS, I wish you all the best. There are those out there that are looking for change every so often and will jump ship, but you'll find most probably won't. If you decide you want to join a social LS, you're welcome to join mine. Head over to our forums http://greatbigsea.guildlaunch.com and read up on the rules of the LS; there's not many and they're not complicated. Once you've read over and signed up on the forums, just send one of our sackholders a /tell and we'll get you into the LS asap!

You know Endtanis, I've been looking for a social linkshell for a long time with one stipulation: clean language as much as possible. From your "Rules and Codes of Conduct" section I read: 3) Keep inappropriate language to a minimum. We do not need to see the LS flooded with relentless swearing, sexual speak or any language that will make people feel uncomfortable. Also Religion and Politics are not allowed in LS chat. If you're unsure what may make people uncomfortable, then don't say it. Great! That's along my lines.
