you're welcome to find a home with us, if you'd like =]

There are a few gay/bi people in my LS, but I've never heard of any LS made with that purpose alone. That's pretty much just flat out segregation. Sexuality isn't a choice, ie, you can't really help who you find attractive. So making a linkshell like that would be just as prejudice as saying "are there any like white people or arian LS here?"

That's not true, Dreakon.

BANANA used to be around in 06 or so, and it was the LGBT shell of bismarck.
it's not segregation if you allow heterosexuals into the shell, but the main purpose of BANANA was just a place where LGBT players could gather and talk about issues, and find people with more common interests.

It also lessened the chance of finding some biggot in a shell and ruining your experience, though it seems most of the players have either left the game, or are just quiet now, as i've not run into any haters.

I have quite a few bi or homosexual people in my various LS's. Truth is? No one really seems to care. When it comes right down to it a person's sexuality really shouldn't matter with regards to playing a video game. I'm a strong supporter of gay rights, but i have to say... A LGBT linkshell seems like a step backwards to me, something that points out how people are different and divides them rather than focuses on all the things we have in common and brings them together.

I'm gay. And I'm in a linkshell. Nobody else is gay in it I don't think, and I'm indifferent either way. At one point I was in a gay one, in 2005 on this server. It was probably a bit seedy to be honest now I look back actually, although I did meet some great people.

I can see the appeal in it to someone who is just venturing into their sexuality like I was when I was a teenager but once you have been very comfortable with it for a long period of time the need for all things gay goes away by quite a bit (also known as to "stop waving the pink flag"). Yeah I would much rather go to gay nightclub (for many reasons including the general atmosphere), but I probably would not want to go to a gay gym again, that got very boring really fast.

Working in a place where the staff are predominately gay is also not something I would particularly like to do again either (I worked in G-A-Y Bar when I first went to university). Fun at first, perhaps even necessary to be 100% comfortable, but is not the real world. Sure I still do 'gay' things, that's just me, its just you like to amplify things at some point in your life.

I imagine that is an odd concept for straight people to grasp in some ways because getting familiar with your sexuality just happens for them; its everywhere. But I would not know, obviously :D

So yea that started off as adding 2 old Cindytaru pics then spiraled into adding several more for no reason. Enjoy the nostalgia!

Stealing Mikeyc's words, to reinforce them:

(Well, Seraph, but we're all one big happy family now.)

While it was nice at times to have a place I could go hide when the immature omggaybadwtf comments in my first shell got too much, I think I saw more angst and drama in that shell than in my next two shells combined. I eventually found a social filled with people who don't care. Even my endgame shells have no tolerance policy for any sort of discrimination - if someone complains, it's dealt with.

Are there plenty of idiots on any server that'll give you hell? Yep. Altana gave us a /blist for a reason (only permanent resident resident of mine is due to a repeeated slur). Otherwise, just meet people and you'll find cool ones eventually.

Any linkshell that doesn't deal with discrimination is a f*cking joke.

I think that's probably the best kind of atmosphere you can hope for - a LS that doesn't care. In my case, I have GLBT friends across the spectrum in both RL and online, and honestly, I don't care. They're my friends because they're fun people, and I accept them as they are. As a LS leader it's really none of my business who or what you find attractive offline. If you're a good player, have a good attitude about the game, and don't cause drama, it's all I want.
