Waiting two hours to find a party, then getting an invite just as your wife walks in the door and says, "You're still playing FFXI?", and not understanding that you havn't actually played yet!

have you tried to get her to play ?

if so, what did you tell her ? ;)

I've tried to get my wife to play, but she won't even attempt to watch. She will look at any new spells I get, but that is about it.

Things that don't quite suck, but make me go WTF?!?!?!

~ Outnuking your Taru Black mage
~ Curing for nearly as much as your hume white mage
~ All in the same party
~ As a Red/black mage.

New stuff:

Being able to, from talking to all the NPCs, and watching a few cinemas from CoP, being able to correctly deduce the majority of the rest of the game's plotline, from rank six up thru ten.

Being in a party fighting crabs with no rdm or bard to dispel, and having a war/mnk who is taking 100 damage a hit as the MAIN tank, and then being told (as a WHM) to not cure so much, that you are drawing too much hate. And then, when you try to explain that you HAVE TO spam Cure IV's to keep the war/mnk tank alive, being told that "you are just unwilling to understand" and then being asked "Is this your first party?"

Not being able to complete PM 2-3 for a while, because the NPC you need to talk to happens to boot you from the game instead of letting you complete the mission.

Watching as a THF with TH4 can't make the bell you need for your AF NM fight drop for almost two to two and a half hours.

Seeing one of your closest rw friends leave FFXI for a while, so that means you won't be able to spend any time with that friend anymore, since the friend lives so far away with college and all...

An intentional double post, so what.

More things that suck it:
-Having a most craptacular day before signing on just didn't help.
-Almost winning Promyvion-Mea and dying with the Delver at about 10% HP left.
-Not winning that Promy, since it was for my friends and not me. -.-
-Getting sweet xp later after the Promy...only to lose it all from dying by dhalmel links.
-Not getting it back, cause someone left, and it was too late at night to get anyone else and make it worth while.

Auction house undercutters. I'm not talking the people who undercut 1-2k off the original price. I'm talking the d!ckless wonders who take something and hack the price 4-5 hundred thousand gil just to sell their sh*t. Pardon me for being pissed about having to spend another 30k+ just to post my item because some @#%^ slashed the price.


A sincere screw you and your undercutting habits goes out to anyone who undercuts an ungodly amount. It's a big load of bullsh*t and your greed sickens me. Now pay me back all the gil I lost to post that item numerous times. ><

Hi Mikeyc - I remember you from a Promy run about 6 months ago; I'm pretty sure you were BLM at the time. Hope things are going ok for you, coz they weren't that nite. :(



As BLM, I've played the backup healer role and a few times as main healer. If it means that my party continues to xp and we can improve our chains, I will cast Divine Seal Curaga I or II, as needed. This allows the WHM (who should take a knee at the end of a fight) to get a few extra ticks of MP. As a BLM, I've got the "luxury" of resting my MP before engaging in the next fight. And just so you know, it's pretty standard at the end of a fight for the RDM or the BRD to do the curaga's - again, it allows the WHM to get some MP.

As a RDM, I am the WHM in my parties and have been since level 25.

If it bothers you to have backup healers, talk to them, parse out the responsibilities (WHM focuses on Tank and backup Tank, BRD focuses on puller and other DD). Should make everyone happy at that point... oh and no one is trying to "steal" your job.

And why would you ask who needs Haste? If you're at a level that gives you the spell, you should have a pretty darn good idea of who should have it... I don't ask truthfully.

I disagree, in cases like this thread.

I know it has probally been said 1,000 times but not being able to find a Non- powerleveled party in the dunes, then running into the same Gimp Tanks and mages getting me killed in Qufim

<_< If this is being revived I will toss in my two cents. I'm sure these have been said already, but I only read the first page or so of posts...

- People that force d/c. All I gotta say is, suck it up you little bitch. If you don't like the party, find yourself a replacement and leave. Don't just pull the plug and hope the party's gone when you come back.

- People that say they're "not doing this." (Most recent example being the party my brother's in as I type this.) DNC is the only person in the party with a ranged attack and she's "not pulling," so they have been reduced to my brother pulling with Provoke on MNK. -_-

- And my all-time favorite thing to hate... People that toss out the "I have 75 [insert job here] like they're God and because of this you're supposed to do everything they say. If you wanna offer me some constructive criticism, great. I'll gladly give it a shot. But if you're gonna try to TELL me how to do my job, go fuck yourself. Last time I checked, I'm the one paying $12.95 a month for this account.

Think that's about it for me.

Naw, this is a thread that should've been stickied but we never bothered to. Lots of people go back to it from time to time to add to it.

The reason being, is because this is a thread that is as old as the game itself. It's a part of Bismarck's history here on Alla.

Things that suck:

Finding out your server is no longer there anymore (goodbye Seraph) and you've been forced onto another server!

You now have to rename your characters!

Crafting skillups... nothing says "Har Har!" like making the 20th synth and still not seeing a single 0.1 increase.

Totally failing a lvl 1 recipe... when you're like lvl 100+6, bye-bye crystals + all materials, thanks for making us feel useless.

Having to rely on the stupid AH for nearly all your items in the game, would it have killed SE to make the stupid normal potions AFFORDABLE at the low levels we could've used them instead of paying like 2k for a 50hp bottle?

Killing a mob and getting so little gil off the mob that it'd take you hours to farm up enough stuff to sell to be able to afford your gear/consumables so you can get back to "Playing".

Going out farming and seeing someone casting shadows to farm easy mobs that they'd most likely would've evaded or parried the attacks. Can I throttle people who farm and expend consumables like shiheis, because yes they can farm longer without resting but they're also out there farming longer to make up for the consumables they just used to farm with.

People who are stingy with bringing their own food to parties. No you can not bum another damn kabob/sushi roll/pastry off me, now get your own, they're MY Precious!!

Random D/Cing when you're helping people on something (and unlucky to be the only tanking job for the group) I so hate my wireless connection's funky finicky DCing habit.

Reading and finding out the poster below me has better "things that suck" reasons than myself. I curse you poster below me! *shakes Taru fist*

Things that suck:

-A suicide bomb taking out my NPC, 4/30 kills!

-Shadowwing in Beaucedine{s}, Greater Amphithere in Xarcabard{s}
