Just thought I'd pop in and see if there were any ex-Pandemonium lurkers still around.

I noticed shortly after the merge, the Pandemonium posters all stopped posting. It was quite saddening indeed.

I also noticed there was a distinct lack of social happenings going on anymore. D:

I moved on from FFXI, but I've always lurked these forums. :P I just felt no reason to post, as well, without playing FFXI anymore, there's no real reason to post. But the fact all the Ex-Pandy people have all stopped posting was just heartbreaking.

I know a few people on facebook have mentioned considering coming back for the expansion. (Can't remember who exactly, just know Liki mentioned it if he still had his character, Shoiko and Luckie mentioned it but can't remember if they mentioned coming back or not, and Jaison mentioned interest in returning, IIRC) I just know the game's way too different to return. I don't want to relearn everything from scratch. xD From what my friends on WoW have told me, if I want to be decent on Puppetmaster anymore, I still need Stringing Pummel, which, at floor 0 I'm at, is... near impossible. I didn't even know much about those weapons, as I stayed away from those events. xD

They've also told me you can go from 1-75 in like a day or two now in Abyssea. That's... ridiculous.

Summoners seem to have gotten a massive shaft in the 75-99 leveling cycle, from what I've seen too. ._. They always seem to get the short end of the stick. Though I am aware SE mentioned adding Atomos and Cait Sith as avatars eventually. Dancers seem to be godly. I mean, I'm looking at their new skills... exactly how do you even die as DNC/NIN or DNC/SAM nowadays? Seems like with /NIN, you'd avoid damage and the ones you didn't, you'd simply heal off, and with /sam, you'd still have dual wield, and would have a near endless TP supply.

There's also the fact if I ever did come back, I'd have to buy the Abyssea expansions and then the new one, which... if I had the money, I wouldn't spend 60-80 bucks on a game I might not be fully invested in returning to. xD

But yea. I still lurk these forums. :P I'm mostly a WoW player at the moment though. From all that I've read/been told, FFXI just isn't the same anymore. I'm sure I would love it if I were starting fresh, but because the FFXI I loved was the old FFXI, I don't think I can get into the new one. Anytime someone mentions FFXI on WoW, any FFXI players all say something like RIP Valkurm or RIP Qufim. :(

Here's something for Nostalgia sake. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/DigiDude/clp887.png The image that caused like a 6 page argument about how I didn't deserve it because I made 3 threads in 3 years asking for help, which was apparently too much. xD I actually didn't realize how big of a douche I came off as until I searched for a specific thread. I'm surprised someone didn't outright blow up on me at one point, lol. That's in the past now though.

Just to clear up a few things:

Getting to floor 100 isn't near impossible - not by a long shot. With everyone at 99 it is quite common to be able to clear 10 floors in a run. I'm going to be starting my first Nyzul climb this weekend - at floor zero now, looking forward to getting to 100.

Of course I'm not sure how much the new expansion is going to cost but Abyssea ultimate edition which gives you the complete game up till now is available for between 10-20 bucks. If you were going to come back it would make a lot of sense for you to come back before seekers to do your level caps etc anyway, since the content will be mostly/all designed around level 99 players.

I'd honestly say give it a shot. It's actually a lot of fun now. Although the old style leveling isn't popular anymore there is a TON of other things to do that are, (in my opinion), more fun and less likely to exclude people.

PUP also got an update awhile back to improve puppet AI and reduce casting times. It also added haste etc to rdm puppet. ^^

Update, did nyzul for the first time tonight, got pup weapon and a runic disc recorded to floor 20. We wiped on our first tag then did 10 floors on one run and five on the rest if them, not bad given how many noobs were on their first run.

When we all done withh nyzul we're going to work on captain.
