From reading the FAQ, it seems like down-rating an entire thread is against the rules (if the tone of the thread is helpful and on topic).

I'm not sure, but it seems as though this thread has been karma-bombed. I rated everyone back up, but i figured I'd bring it to the attention of the mods.

Thanks for the hard work, guys (and gals?).

We havent had an aweful lot of those lately. The karma is intended to weed out the good from the bad, so the problem usually solves itself.

I might be mistaken, but in the link i see, everyone is either Good or Excellent >.>

The thread in question is both helpful and on topic, IMO.

And yes, the karma system works well when used as intended, which is why it bothers me when people misuse it by bombing a whole thread arbitrarily.

Don't worry, I just karma bombed the whole thread to even it out.

That's because I rated everyone back up after I saw each post's rating drop in the space of one page refresh.

I joined in the CJ to countermand any karmic "justice" someone tried to dish out, likely the admins will call it all fair, but at least they can slap the hand of the red arrow bandit.

There were alot of downrates in that thread, but there were about 20 people doing the rating. That particular thread was intended as helpful, but you have to remember that anything thats a "Lets change something!" type thread that has people proposing ideas, no matter how well intentioned, is going to have other people seeing those ideas who say "no, that is a bad idea, and I am going to rate that post down to show my dislike for that particular idea". They don't do it out of any particular malice or dislke of the posters in the thread, its the concept they dislike.

In this instance, the Karma system was working as intended.

Eh, it's video game politics. I've annoyed enough people and come across enough as a bossy know-it-all enough times that there are people who rate me down on sight.

They rated me down in a thread discussing someone's computer build today. I'm a software analyst but I more or less know my way around the guts of a PC and I don't think the advice I gave was incorrect. Yet someone decided they had to punish me for trying to answer someone's questions. So it goes. Smiley: laugh

In low light with a blue LED power supply shining down on the back of the case, the white and green ports looked pretty darn similar. Smiley: laugh

That excuse doesn't fly in the bedroom and it won't fly here.

Sometimes an accidental connection in the bedroom turns out well for both parties. Smiley: schooled
