One might say that since the poster whose actions warranted the filter has been gone for years(banned, in fact, if I recall), that that specific filter has long since served its purpose.

I know the story, assuming it's the Skeeter thing, I was merely asking why it's still filtered.

Normally filters would be reserved for mature language, but pedo isn't a swearword. It's a variation of paedo-, which originates from Greek paido- and is the combining form (used in compound words) of paid-, meaning child. Philia originates from -philÃa, which is also Greek and means friendship or affinity.

Filtering 'pedo' because it is present in the word 'pedophilia' is like filtering 'necro' because it's in 'necrophilia', or 'ape' because it's in 'rape'.

It would take a Chewbacca defense (and nothing less) to keep it.
