Has there been a recent policy change to allow WOW general to become home for every one post wonder that wants to post a link? It seems like there have been more rather dubious posts for guilds, applications, web sites and whatnot recently.

I just took a look in there to see if there was a batch of them we missed, but from what I see in there, at least in terms of new created threads we've been pretty good about removing them. There is one thread in there, the "crowdsourcing" one, which is kind of questionable as it is a post by a 1 post person to promote their site, but on the other hand their site is game related, and they didn't spam it so I don't really have a problem with that one particularily.

If you see others I missed, please as Nizdaar advised, report them.

Any that I've seen have long since been reported, I hit the button enough that you guys should know that. My post reflects my perception that the site has become more forgiving of ads -- for applications (Overwolf), guilds (Nerds of Norway) and sites (GearMyToon) -- in drive by posts that aren't cleared through admins first. I'll admit to being a bit surprised to see sites with gold selling banner ads are now OK -- I was under the impression that wasn't tolerated before.

Change noted, I'll lighten up on the report button.

when people report them we remove them. sometimes, when they have content that might or might not be useful and I don't know enough about the game to make that determination, we leave them for the karma system to handle.
