But yeah, I agree with most of what you said (I think 4chanarchive is pretty much solely /b/). I think his real case was that it works better when it is anonymous.

Plenty people post on the journal forum where the current anime discussions take place, it would only be more if a specific forum was created.

I'm undecided, but if any single off-MMO/games Topic deserves its own forum on Alla then Anime certainly is it.
The only reason I'd be against it is that it might be like the SciFi and "other games" forums, which don't have enough traffic on them to take off and have their own life, and so merely suck more life out of the Out Of Topic/Asylum, because Sci-fi and other games topics get told to take it to =22 and =4.
The reason I'm for it is that certainly a great appetite and love for Anime amongst many of the Alla users, and such a forum might take off and fly very well indeed. There may be many people who would talk and question more about Anime if there was an idividual forum for it where other posters would not complain "not Anime again!"
I for one love Anime. I also love Scifi, and am a sad little panda that the Scifi forum here is not more populated.

Mr. Catwho, now Dr. Allison, finished his PhD studying anime fans at our local university. If someone can get their freaking doctorate studying the fans, surely the topic is weighty enough to deserve its own forum!

Unlike us football fans who've kept our topic to one thread for the last few months, they seem to think they need a new thread every couple days. Granted, there's enough of them that one thread would be 50+ pages in 3 weeks. Probably a really good sign that a forum would be viable and active.

How about us changing the Science Fiction & Fantasy forum to include Anime also?
Maybe even more along the lines of all TV/Movies. As it is even with the amount of replies I can't see an anime-only forum being popular enough to justify another board.
