when will it be fixedFollow

#1 Aug 01 2007 at 4:45 AM Rating: Decent
I am using IE 6 (work wont upgrade...) and the FFXI skin.

I still get dissapearing text and the side menu is covering part of the posts so I have to either hide then unhide the menu so I can see the posts or just keep it hidden.

Either way, its a pain.

Any idea when these issues will be fixed?

Hold down shift and hit refresh. And learn to take some pithiness from the boards.

The shift + refresh fixes the menu overlap, but the disappearing text issue hasn't been fixed yet. It's been happening for a few weeks now. Here's where it was first brought up. http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1183158484316595673;page=4

Still got the same problem here.

In all honesty, it's completely ridiculous for the problem to have lasted this long. Please... y'know, actually TEST your big forum revamps before actually rolling them out next time?

Shouldn't have to. This is the "site feed back fourm". A place to report technical issues.

Thank you to whoever removed the offending posts.

Obviously you are not aware of the nature of the problem. Pressing SHIFT+Refresh only solves the problem for about... 5 seconds. Then the text disappears again.

I have learned to take some pityness from Alla... I'm now simply highlighting the disappearing text to make it visible again or scrolling up then back down a page (works faster than refreshin the page). However, after about 15-20 minutes of highlighting or scrolling, I get fed up with it and switch to Wiki or some other FFXI related board.

It seems the menu hiding part of the posts has been fixed.

Still dealing with the magical disappearing text as discribed by others.

The vanishing text thing has been a pain since I haven't been able to reproduce it. I've tried changing something else though, on the FFXI skin, to test it. If it stops happening, let me know, if not, I'll keep trying other things.

I usually don't complain about Karma, but I have been rated down because I pointed out people were being idioits when I had a technical question.

And now you're being rated down further because you're talking about karma. Funny how that works, eh?

As for disappearing text, I haven't had that issue for a week and a half or so, running the latest Firefox (they just recently had an update of some kind, don't know the nature of it though). It was annoying as hell when it happened, though.

Oh gee... thanks.

But, yes I am still having the dissapearing text while using IE6 at work. I think my firefox at home is fine tho.

Its taken me about 20 minutes just to read this thread due to the vanishing act. Who knew you could type in disappearing/reappearing text.

I'm still trying to find a connection between the people that are having this problem, since it only appears to be certain people using IE6. Are all of you in Windows XP (as opposed to 2000, etc, etc)? Do you have any browser addons going (google toolbar, Avant, etc)? What version of Java do you have installed? I've been messing with my settings a lot in my IE6 and I still can't get it to happen, either logged in or not, to test the cause.

Once I get back to work, I can get more specifics.

If you need me to be more specific, let me know. I will check in on this thread Monday.

I just applied what seems to have been a fix for the disappearing text bug. If you're running ie6 and are/were experiencing it, do a Ctrl-F5 to refresh once, then let me know if it happens to show up for you again anywhere.
