Sort of off topic here but is anyone else about ready to go postal over the damn mosquito add on this site? That buzzing noise is enough to make me contemplate mass murder.

I dunno, but it's rather counterproductive. Not only am I guaranteed to not visit their site, I'm also guaranteed to eat up more of Alla's bandwidth by hitting reload.

It must be an Internet phenomenon by now! One of the Class boards I frequent had the exact same complaint.
On a related note...
Lately I've been getting ads here that are oriented vertically instead of horizontally. They aren't nearly as annoying as the sound ones (especially since I don't have sound turned on here at work) but the scrolling gets tedious.

When did advertisers confuse "getting Joe's attention" with "pestering Joe". Alla or for that matter the internet as a whole is not the only place this exists. When your marketing practices set off legislation due to their level of annoyance (do not call registry), maybe it's time to re-examine your objective.
Either pay to upgrade your account or do what I do and just hit F5 to reload
the page until it goes away. It's annoying but it's designed to get attention,
kind of like a telemarketer calling at dinner-time. :(

I like to school telemarketers myself.
Just yesterday I got a guy trying to sell some sort of resort vacation deal. I told him I wasn't interested and to put us on their do not call list. He says "Do you know what it is you aren't interested in?" And I say, "Yes. Anything you have to say!" [click]
