Ads with sound lose forever. Mosquito or otherwise. There are other noise ads in the rotation aside from just the "zap the mosquito" ad, the mosquito one is just the most piercing. They are all annoying. I mostly check in on the site from work and I also listen to music at my desk. My speakers or headphones randomly spewing forth a loud continuous buzzing noise is not a good thing. Like others, I completely understand the need for the ads and even click through them from time to time if they intrigue me. However once certain ads begin to detract from your visitors' enjoyment of the site, steps need to be taken to correct them.

As a side note, we had this exact same problem with the exact same mosquito ad in the rotation over at OGaming. It was removed with the swiftness. Ask Tamat how he did it, but I don't recall it seeming like a difficult process to modify the rotation.

God, I hate ads with sound.

AdBlock and NoScript ftw.

Now there's an ad that greets you with a spoken "Congratulations! You have won a free iPod ... " or something like that. >.< Is that what they replaced the mosquito ad with?

Those sideways ads were annoying as well ...

I'm still getting a University of Phoenix ad vertically positioned at the top of the screen.

I can't recall if I got the "find your graduating class" one today yet or not though.

The only one that I am still running across that is positioned incorrectly and is in the horizontal ad slot rotation is the flashing "WINNER WINNNER WINNER - YOU'VE WON A FREE LAPTOP - YOU ARE THE 1,000,000th VISITOR CLICK HERE OMG YOU ARE SUCH A LUCKY GUY" ad.

Edit: And the AMEX business gold card one

Edit #2: And the Old Spice quiz one...nope, just doesn't look to be fixed, Kao.

How can you be the 1,000,000th visitor when there are more users on the site than that?

OH GOD, does that mean I really won $2,000,000.- like Mr. Van Gogh said in that email I got from Africa?!!!

Smiley: disappointed

I freakin' hate those ads.
