Avatar, smileys and WoW signature is not worth it.

Sorry, but I'm turning off auto-renew.

I will probably continue to post, at least until I get 10k.

I am however not paying premium.

I also don't want any of my guides on a site where the bottom dollar is going back to the guys that own IGE etc.

Alla, please call it off or do something. At least give us proof that are money is not going to the gold selling Division of their filithy websites.

why would allakhazam's profits fund IGE directly? they make a 2-300% profit on everything they sell... IGE is something that makes money for it's owners, not something that takes money.

So IGE is the parent company of allah? Am I wrong? Smiley: confused

Alla say's he doesn't support this. But if we are a division of IGE etc, then we are in a sort part of the crop, right???

That's what you guys are who are upset by this merge, upset about, right??

Please advise.

No Allakhazam is now owned by the company that owns IGE. IGE and Allakhazam are distinct entities however in the end the money goes to the same parent corporation.

This is somehow supposed to make it less morally ambiguous.

What a facking joke.

So instead of a premium membership we should just go buy some currency for our favorite game right?? In the end it goes to the same people.

I don't like Marlboros, but I still buy oreos. I would never buy a Ford, but would definitely buy a Jaguar. Not big on Taco Bell, but like KFC. Many products you use are owned by people who own other products you may not like. It's the way of the world. As long as the companies are run separately, most people are fine with that. If your oreo cookie wrapper had a marlboro ad on it, maybe that would be a problem. It is important to keep in mind that we are a completely separate company within a large holding company that just happens to own other companies as well.

I realize some people are not going to be happy with this, but the fact is that we are now able to do things we just were never able to do before. This gives us the financial backing and stability to really do a great deal for everyone. Before the financial backing for the site was just me. Now it is a well financed corporation. I want our network to always be the first to have new game information. I want to be the destination of choice for anything having to do with any game we cover. There have been many cool things we have discussed doing over the years that we have just not had the ability to do without stretching ourselves too thin. Now we can do all that and more. I have loads of exciting new plans for making your experience even better than before. By adding these new sites to our network, we are gaining resources and flexibility that we have never had before.

We are purchasing eight new servers to run the site. Expect the speed issues to go away. We are also working on a way for people to personalize their view of the site and add blogging and other individual features. Our programmers will be able to put significantly more time into the site too, so there can be more searches and more features for every game. The benefits of this far outweigh the negatives. Given all of that, frankly this was a no brainer. The plan is to make Allakhazam.com and The Zam.com Network the ultimate online destination for all the latest information about your game.

I'm of the same mind as bodhi.

Allakhazam just sold out to a company that sells online gold/gil etc. etc...

Support Allakhazam: Support Gold Sellers!

I don't think so.

I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I criticized this just on the basis of IGE's business...

But IGE's pulled out just about every nasty trick in the book previously.

I'm definitely not gonna be visiting without a virus scanner up (IE - whenever I'm running EQ or WoW,) due to some of IGE's past demonstrated "business practices."

The only person who has access to all of that information is Illia, who has been the one all along with that access. All of that information is safe and will continue to be private and not sold off to anyone else. I know it is hard to believe me, but we are still running the site the same way we were before. I am still posting from my house. Nothing has changed on how things are being run here except that we are adding these other sites and expanding our services.

I'm really unhappy with this. Even if Allkhazam remains at heart a separate entity from IGE, it is still under the same umbrella. I've seen this tactic before in other mergers/buyouts- and I'm willing to bet it's only a matter of time before the parent company start forcing goldselling ads on the website.

I won't be renewing my premium account in this light- sorry, but saying you're not directly involved doesn't justify the connection, IMO. After thinking of all the 'goldseller link in x thread' posts I made, I feel like I wasted my time doing so.

To explain it another way, Altria for example owns both Kraft Foods and Philip Morris. Which doesn't mean that each box of Mac & Cheese you buy directly supports cigarettes but it is the same CEO who gets your dime regardless of which you buy.

Whether or not this affects your pasta purchasing habits depends entirely on how strongly you feel about people who sell cigarettes.

Edit: Alla posted about the same as I was typing this
