There's a scumware ad from fortunecity trying to load again. In my experiance fortunecity is scum. They try to slip things through all the time.

Yeah... I've noticed this too. Thank God my computer is awesome... and... running on Windows XP...

*runs Adaware, Spybot S&D, HijackThis, various virus scans, throws his drive in the fire, buys a new one and installs Red Hat*

I run ad-aware and spybot to get rid of this junk but I also find that blocking the domain name in IE options and on my router work very well also

i see that when i view source. does this mean these sites embed their own code into alla's HTML? if so is that legal?

they pay alla to let them advertise.. they aren't supposed to use scumware, but sometimes they do and the ad has to be disabled.

is that why sometimes, even as a premium member, you get pop-ups or ads?

occasionally something gets messed up and the site thinks your a normal user for some reason.. but yes, spyware (from ANY site) can increase your number of popups
