Just wondering if there was any chance of getting server specific forums for FFXI?? It'd be nice to be able to reach out to people on the same server as me both on Allakhazam as well as in game.

Y'know I've posted this quite a bit around here but I always seem to get the "deaf-ear". I think it would be a good idea! I need to find some good players on my server! Oh BTW Alienone.... really enjoyed your XP calculator spreadsheet thing (I forget what it's called) well done!

I don't know...on other forums, server-specific forums take up space and don't often take off. A possible solution would be to make one forum, but have a thread for each server? No new posts allowed, but each server could have that thread.

You could set up a single server forum, then have stickied threads, in alphabetical order for each of the servers. People could post general server stuff still in the forum, and there would not be a risk of extra forums laying unused all over the place. I tcould always be expanded later if the need was great.

Isn't that exactly what Ilani said 5 posts up? Anywho...I still think it's a wonderful idea.
I added the sticky part in. Without stickied threads for each server things would be a mess in very short order.
You're right, stickying them would allow them to stay in alphabetical order by server. Otherwise it would get a little confusing, still not too bad though as long as you can't post new threads.
So, anyone from the upper echelons have an opinion? =3

Yeah, having one forum for each server would be sprading it way too thin.. I'm not sure having one thread for each server would be that great either though, it could get out of hand, and I don't know how well multiple discussions would go in one thread. I'll run it by Illia.

I'm generally opposed to server forums. All extra forums do are spread out the community. I like having everyone posting together for the most part. A forum with posts every couple minutes is far more interesting than one with posts every couple hours, or even days. Thus, my preference has always been to have a couple fairly busy forums than several dozen hardly used ones, and we already have a lot of FFXI forums. I'm not sure how a one thread per server thing would work though. Sounds kind of unwieldy.

Thanks for the reply. I have another possible idea then. Is there any way to set it up in your User Account an optional field that allows you to input what server you're on? Then you have the ability to click on your Server link to see who the registered users are? I think this would help link our community here with our specific server communities in game. Any thoughts?
