The most recent version update has, so far, proven quite successful. Something, however, leaves a slightly sour taste when it comes to Magian weapons. It appears, so far, that Elemental path weapons were excluded from receiving the new weapon skills that most of their Physical counterparts received.

While I am hoping this to be addressed in the form of +2 Magian weapons in the next update, I get the nagging sense that the new directors are trying to cater to the "hardcore" base by again creating this artificial aura of exclusivity that came with Relic and Mythic Weapons. Something that runs 180 degrees against the original concept of TotM. I hope I am wrong, but the game can do without a return to elitism and cronyism.

I highly doubt this will be addressed, because yeah, you bet your **** they are trying to cater to the hardcore base.

Elemental paths are mostly a joke compared to the empyrean paths. People who put in more work should get more spoils. I don't see any problem with that kind of a system, although someone like Mellowy might.

If anything, I disapprove of a NM dropping things needed for a trial that only one person can obtain. THAT goes against the concept of the vast majority of the other trials by discouraging people on similar trials from teaming up for it.

unfortunately, I don't expect them to add the WS's to the elemental path. Look at the case of the elemental staff lines. These are made for a specific style of play. MAD bonus ones are made for nuking--not melee. The SMN staves are made for keeping avatars out to fight for you (or beside you).

Empyrean weapons are made for when you want to beat the **** out of things, so they would naturally get the weapon skills added to increase melee potential.

PS: in mellowy's defense, I have 6 elemental staves, and am curently taking them to the latest stages...and they are by no way a "joke" to complete. They are the ONLY magians I've been able to work on since the 75 cap was lifted, and only just completed their previous final stages 1 week before this update. And it's not from a lack of time spent on them. I get picked on continually by LS b/c it's all I do when I'm not in any events.

Compared to empyreans? They're a joke.

The fact that you have six of them kinda reinforces that.

I'm still 8/10 T3 VNM drops for my occ hit twice staff. I don't envy those who need 50 abyssea drops.

(I have 10 bakka wings already for next step though, since it drops from a popular mob and can be traded)

yeah.. but you can make a weapon usable for multiple jobs... not multiple weapons for one job. What other job needs -perp.?

And the only reason I got them done is b/c I'm unemployed and able to dedicate HOURS to them EVERY day. If I only had 3 hours a few nights a week like I used to, would probly only have 2 done for just SMN and BLM would still be stuck with HQ elemental staves--and that's if I dind't join in on abyssea and do mission fights/farming runs with LS. I have one friend who has yet to finish Yama's -5 stage for Fenrir/Diabolos b/c of his work schedule. It's the only one he logged, and one of the easiest ones to complete.

All I'm saying is they are by no means easy to complete, esp. when you are stuck having to solo them most all the way through.
