I found this but I was hoping someone here has a more powerful google-fu who might find anything comperable in the $600 range ($700 with shipping).

Requirements are:

500 watt max
25mph max
head/tail lights (signals nice, but not essential)
some sort of basket or "saddlebags"

I really want something soon and I could do the above one in a month, but I'd like something, like, now.

Yep. Any gas powered requires at least a regular drivers licence in South Dakota. Used to be if under 50cc you didn't, but no longer.Smiley: frown

Same reason it needs the stats listed above.

Your eye sight is so bad you can't get a license, so you wish to bypass that with an electric vehicle.

I'm not sure how I feel about that... Smiley: laugh

Hey, I see no reason why not.

Mainly because I don't foresee myself driving in South Dakota any time soon.

It's interesting what you can find on eBay, but I doubt this works...

This looks interesting but prices by email

Are we getting closer?

This looks interesting but prices by email I saw this on another site with price of ~$1200. Smiley: frown

Are we getting closer? Why yes, yes you are. Another -$100 would be awesome, though.

It's 20-25 mph max and I'll never ever go that fast.

Seriously, there are aspects to this vision issue that result in what are essentially temporary hallucinations. So, I'll go slooooooooow.

Hey, if I wear all white with red shoes all the drivers on the road will know I'm blind, right?Smiley: grin

Too bad you can't get into the $1200 range. There seem to be a lot of nice options in that range, including some decent-looking trikes.

Pretty much all the stuff I've found in that range exceed 20 mph by a significant margin, so they be out of the question.

OK my last go 'round before I head to work:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand-New-Sporty-Blue-500W-Electric-Scooter-Moped-Pedals-Charger-Included-/321135673422?pt=Motors_Powersports_Under_50cc&hash=item4ac52d804e#ht_3245wt_1165

OK, yes, it's more. BUT! They do layaway plans! I'll see what else I can dig up, but I think the $710 is the lowest I've seen unless you're looking to be a dealer.
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/electric-moped-500w.html

That's the dealer's website, but there are minimum orders (mostly between 20-30 for the class you're looking for).

OK this one is slower, but I'll post it.

http://urbanscooters.com/cgi-bin/urbanscooters/XB-420M.html

Had to turn to Bing, Google keeps giving me Canadian results and I cannot change that, apparently.

Hey! Remember that layaway listing? Looky!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand-New-Burgundy-500W-Electric-Scooter-Moped-Pedals-Charger-Included-/321119339604

Cheaper, still not under your 700 pricepoint, but again, LAYAWAY!

I have seen quite a few like this: http://www.extrememotorsales.com/xcart/product.php?productid=16615&cat=260&page=2

But I don't think that's exactly what you're aiming at...

Not sure if it is something you would want but ever look into a bicycle that has an electric motor in it? One of my bikes has an electric hub for the front tire, can hit 20mph by itself, usually you pedal and use that as an assist, wouldn't require a license and you might get a workout to boot. Here is a conversion kit on ebay.

I'm looking for stability and carrying capacity (groceries and such). So, I'm avoiding assisted bicycles.

This is the bike I have with the electric hub, I have 2 one with and one without, Just due to the weight and design of them they are not the easiest things to go riding around, it is more of a "show" bike than anything.
