So, have you guys been doing anything to exercise recently? I figure there's probably a few who are, considering the whole new years resolutions and all.

Four months ago when I joined my school's crew team, I could just barely run a mile. This morning, I rowed 10 kilometers on a machine, then immediately got up and ran 4.4 miles in the 30 degree weather, all before 7:30 AM.

It's pretty amazing what you can do if you really work for it.

Have you guys been keeping active? What's your routine normally, if you've got one? ****, even just getting out and walking for five minutes a day is awesome.

I usually walk a mile over lunch but the winter's cold has put a crimp in that. Today's supposed to be in the low 40's though so maybe I'll head back out.

It's not part of my resolution, but we're back to hitting the gym. We're only on our second time back today thanks to being benched by some colds. As for routine, weightlifting and light cardio.

The only regular exercise I get is walking. Like Joph the winter puts a bit of damper on things, but we really do try and get out four times a week. This means two evening walks during the work week. We have no street lights so a walk requires flashlights, reflector vests and of course warm clothes. It's an effort that takes both of us guilting one another. Once we're out though, I keep the hubby moving along at a nice clip.

I've been out snow-shoeing twice this winter and have done lots of snow shoveling. Beyond that I do some bit of core strengthening and stretching almost nightly. It's nothing terribly strenuous but enough to crack out my back and shoulders. Also crunches are a necessity as I have an irrational fear of acquiring a bot belly.

I usually play squash and then do a short focused workout. I also bike a lot, all year round.

I have to 'keep active' for work, which means 30 minutes of some kind of sustained activity roughly 2-3 times a week. That gets me the discounted insurance rates. Usually it involves taking the kids to the park or the zoo and chasing them around for a while. Also if I miss my bus I'll walk down the line for a while and catch the next one at a later stop.

I walk several miles a day, but that's about it. I usually do about 2-3 miles to and from work, and 2-3 during my lunch break. I also (1-2 times a week) lift some dumbbells while watching TV at home; biceps and triceps.

Also, joined a biggest loser competition at work; currently tied for last place, only having lost .69% of my body mass after 3 weeks Smiley: laugh

I plan on restarting the P90X on Monday (which is a holiday). It's gonna kill, but I have several friends promising to hold me to it.

I cycle to work which is a 7 mile trip. good enough to keep me reasonably fit.

Now, if it keeps freezing here I'll be able to do some proper skating, I've been looking forward to that for months.

Five mile jog Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 30 minute swim Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, rest on Sunday. Monday through Friday alternate between 100 pushups and situps every hour. Sometimes I'll switch up the situps with crunches, but not often enough to be considered routine.

I run 6-9 miles a week, mainly on the weekends. Going to start upping that as the weather gets warmer and I have more daylight. I'm going to move up from 5k runs and start doing 10k runs this year. I also exercise most week nights after work doing P90X workouts, though I'm not doing the whole P90X regimen anymore. I also have an elliptical that I use a couple times a week.

I've been taking the dog for a walk every day. She's totally in a routine now, so she guilts me into it when I don't feel like going. I think it's about a two-mile walk.

I train at an MMA gym here in NYC. The schedule changes a little here and there but I mostly do:

Monday
Strength & Conditioning (lifting)
No-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Tuesday
Strength & Conditioning (cross training)
No-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Wednesday
Day off
Thursday
Strength & Conditioning (cross training)
Muay Thai
Friday
Strength & Conditioning (lifting)
No-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I take most weekends off (once in a while I'll hit up our apartment's gym to do some cardio and ab work). Each session is 1-1.5 hours. The S&C classes vary a lot - we cycle through a bunch of different lifting and aerobic exercises. I prefer no-gi BJJ, but once in a blue moon I'll throw on the pajamas and roll.

I used to go to a BJJ-exclusive place, but I'm liking this one a lot more...it's much more inclusive, and less self-serious. The instructors and classmates do a good job of keeping me moving, but there's room to joke around and keep things light, which I really appreciate. It's a **** of a workout, but it's also competitive and fun, which helps me stay motivated.

I've been cycling through the Insanity workouts. Finished up the full program earlier this month and now I'm just cycling through the more difficult ones until I decide what I want to do next. I don't really want to buy weights or a gym membership if I can help it.

I really need to get out and exercise. All this talk about exercise made me hungry.
Now I think I'll go the fridge and make me a sandwich.

Monday - circuit training
Tuesday - Karate
Wednesday - climbing
Thursday - rest
Friday - circuit training
Saturday - Taekwon do and climbing
Sunday rest

Should be adding climbing on Tuesday and Thursday morning and I'm going to see if I can manage to do Taekwon do on Mondays after circuit training as well. Hopefully when it starts to get warmer I'll be able to get out of bed earlier and maybe add some cardio classes or jogging in the morning.

I was never really an exercise person growing up, but it's amazing how much of a difference finding activities you enjoy doing makes.

I'm terrible when it comes to exercise. I've been meaning to start swimming again, though current health issues preclude that possibility. Sigh.

I race-walked in a 5K yesterday. 3.1 miles in a bit under an hour.

My legs are killing me today!

Most days I end up going to the gym and riding the elliptical for 30 minutes.

Lol, You make an exercise machine sound like an amusement park ride. If only it were so.

Good job on getting out and walking for an hour though. (I'm assuming the 5k was outside..Smiley: wink)

I think the problem I've been having lately is that I'm not really having 'rest' days. I'll do 1-2 workouts a day plus or minus some activities (volleyball, hockey). What are peoples thoughts on rest days? How many should I have?
