Damn you posting before I edited.

But yes, we do. We just don't have so much social stigma attached to not having unnaturally white teeth.

I think there's some middle ground in there you're missing. Smiley: tongue I have what I would consider, normal looking teeth and I've never had anyone tell me they look nasty. They sure aren't abnormally white, considering I haven't bleached them since I was in high school.
#29 Jun 21 2012 at 5:42 AM Rating: Good
You actually bleached them before?

And dentists in England are overpriced and have ridiculous waiting lists, compared to Scotland. Just sayin'.

Two hundred for a cleaning sounds a bit high to me. Granted, I have dental insurance, so my cleanings don't cost me a penny, so I could be wrong.

Scotland has more dentists per capita. Smiley: schooled

That tends to happen in areas where you have the same level of public service, but less public to service.

Scotland generally has more service per capita. I don't get why people live in England. It's rainier down there, too...

Edit: Fillings are still 20% of the English price, as far as I know. What's the price of a filling in England?

Or teeth at all.

Most of your actors have decent teeth, but I was watching a recent documentary about the London Tube, and every single slub looked like he'd been chewing on a rotten apple.

You're not talking about pie, but now the topic is pie.

No idea, I don't have any. I own a toothbrush and mouthwash.

Not real bleaching like at the dentist, but I used one of those Crest Whitestrips at home bleaching kits a couple times when I was in high school and cared way too much about my appearance.

That doesn't really help for teeth that are 22+ years old and not made for anywhere near that timespan. Lol babytooth.

Some of our servants have red teeth. I think they use something weird on them. I don't want to ask them... maybe I will ask my workmate, haha.
Our attendant is missing a tooth. It's not all that bad...

Are dentists in the US expensive...?

My teeth have cost me $16,000 over the past six years. Going to be $17,000 next month. Genetics ****** me over and my teeth "are like swiss chees" according to my dentist. So... most of my teeth are actually crowns at this point. Very good porcelain crowns, at least.

So I got a third world tooth infection. Went to the dentist today, paid Rs. 200 - about $2. I still need to buy antibiotics for it (pharmacies are closed Fridays before the prayer/jummah), but that won't be much more.

Went to get an eye check up right after, paid Rs. 20 for that and Rs. 2750 for 2 pairs of new glasses, ready within 2 days (as opposed to the 2-3 weeks it takes in Europe iirc).

Sometimes Pakistan is just so awesome.

And crap, I've paid less than $100 in my life for dental stuff, in total, including braces, a filling on that same tooth that's bothering me now which needs to be replaced every couple of years or so and random other stuff. Also professional cleanings.

What do you get for that $1,000 next month?

I get to live a full month without the fear of being killed because I'm not one of them.

Fair deal, in my opinion.

That's the most likely thing to get me killed around here, actually. Never mind.

There's a takeaway off campus that's named something like "Bovine Chicken Evolution".

Nah, I'll be safe because I have scary looking guys with big guns. Smiley: grin

Not literally. It's called some made up word that's made up for Bovine and Chicken... Bovicken? No. I don't remember.

And then underneath in smaller letters it says "We've taken evolution one step further!" or something like that. It amused me greatly. Smiley: lol

Edit: See my sig. Even considering Ahmadiyya Jamaat a Muslim sect is apostasy. Unless you're, like, Ahmadi, I guess. Which is kind of illegal in Pakistan. So I'm just ignoring all that for the next 2 months... or something.
