Given these choices:
Wal-Mart :8 (15.7%)
Dairy Queen :3 (5.9%)
Local grocery store :14 (27.5%)
KFC :2 (3.9%)
A&W :2 (3.9%)
Movie Gallery :22 (43.1%)
Total:51

I'm in need of a summer job, kinda late on finding one this year. I'm thinking either the Movie Gallery or A&W.
Movie Gallery, because my family rents alot of movies, and I could get us a deal. A&W, because the other options suck Smiley: tongue

P.S. How is everyone tonight? I've just been lurking lately, having nothing interesting to add (lolSummerJobPoll), I'm still thinking about what I'm gonna do for my 3k ding. The 3k ding that may or may not happen this month.
Maybe an I Spy game, with items that remind me of individual posters Smiley: lol

Doin' well, Kirb. Con says "Hi."

I would pretty much take any job, if I could.

Yeah, I'm pretty much at that point of desperation anyway. I'll be applying to all of them, and hoping that Movie Gallery hires me.
I've had my previous two summers all set for me by my dad. He was well connected in the small town we used to live in, and got me a Relief Operator position for the local Fractionation Plant.
I really haven't had to go through interviews in any of my jobs, apart from Wal-Mart a few years ago. Every other job has been set up by my dad, or I was hired on the spot (lol).

Hey Con Smiley: smile

Movie Gallery or grocery store sound like the two I'd consider, personally.

I'm also considering working a part-time job while I'm in college next year, depending on how much spare time I have after a couple weeks of classes. Anyone have experiences with work and school at the same time?
I worked at a gas station while I was in high school, but c'mon, high school is a joke Smiley: lol

Goggy, I don't swing that way Smiley: wink

Indeed, free chicken is tempting (From both KFC and A&W), but I have a feeling I'd have trouble keeping a smile on my face asking for orders.

The one we had where I grew up was a drive up "fast food" shack. I put fast food in quotations because the food took a while to cook and was generally of higher quality than generic fast food is.

I was GM of a Movie Gallery once upon a time.

You don't want to work at Movie Gallery.

I worked for KFC. It's a bit meh, luckily I was 28 at the time, so they made me Assistant Manager (woooh), it just meant I could hide in the back, shouting at the spotty teenagers to stop texting and work faster.

I'd buy the grocery store and turn it into a Sobey's. That's practically a license to print money.

I think someone looking for a summer job might have trouble affording that. Smiley: laugh

However, I'm intrigued. Tell me more.

Why not a movie theater? You'll get to see all of the summer blockbusters for free.

Grocery store or Wal-Mart in that order. Typical retail wage slaving but less obnoxious kids/teens than a movie theater or fast food. Grocery store would be my preference because too many kids think that Wal-Mart is a playground or something.

Also, get off my lawn.

I'd work at the Movie Gallery. When I was in High School, I worked at Dairy Queen. I worked at McDonald's one summer after my first year of college and then I worked at grocery stores the other years. Any of the jobs will be fine as long as your boss and your coworkers don't suck. I really liked my manager at Dairy Queen--he wanted us all to be good students (he had four daughters of his own) and understood our teenage social needs, so he was often pretty flexible and a really nice man. In turn, we worked hard there.

I personally would choose the Movie Gallory. I use to work at Blockbuster during the summer a while back and I got 5 free rentals a week plus a game. I'm perfectly happy sitting at home watching movies until I no longer can feel my legs.

I'm going to offer a write-in option and suggest that you spend the summer working as a Mop Boy at a gay **** theater since you obviously swing Nixnot's way. A straight dude would know that the best place to work is wherever you have the best chance to lurk around hot, young girls. Wal-Mart made your list? Seriously?

What the hell are they teaching kids these days? Smiley: oyvey

Way more than I wanted, yeah. Actually I found that I did better in my college classes when I worked. Partly just that being under the gun constantly didn't let me procrastinate, and partly having something else to think about/do probably helped me concentrate.
