Oldnews may be old, but I just found out about this.

Move over Google, introducing: Wolfram|Alpha.

It's apparently just getting started, so its functionality is limited. I.E. no internetz stuff. It looks like it could be an amazing tool for students and professionals, though.

I myself am amazed at how variable the entries are.

Once it gets more developed, it seems like it could be a very powerful tool. It's by no means a "Google Killer", I'm not sure if anything would be, but it's by no means a small development.

That thing is awesome. It only need to be able to tell me words based on a description and it'll be greater, because I'm totally trying to think of a word that means "turning into sand".

Meh. It didn't answer most of what I tried to get from it.

Agreed. When I tried messing around with it, it proved that it's certainly no Google.

It is by no means crap, though.

It seems to me that it's more of a tool to figure stuff out than a search engine. Kinda like an answer machine.

Interesting idea, absolutely horrible name. I didn't actually get to play with it because I got sick of listening to the jackass that came up with the thing explaining it to me.

Was playing around with this the other day. It can apparently do some pretty complex integrals and derivatives and explain the steps it did to find it which I thought was pretty nifty.

Sublimating wouldn't work. That's the process by which a solid turns into a gas with no intervening liquification.

Eroding kind of applies, but it doesn't specifically mean sand. I'm not sure there exists a word which means "turning into sand". Other than...sandification.

Disintegration, maybe? In the science-fiction/fantasy sense of "makes you go poof into human-flavored dust"?
