Katie, do you assume there's something wrong with strippers? Serious question.
I won't go so far as to label a majority of them, but 8 of every 10 girls at the club I frequent have baggage of some sort. And the club I frequent is the most... um... reputable, yeah that's the word, of all the clubs in the area. I think it's just a life that breeds trouble and you have to be an incredibly strong woman to strip for any length of time and not get brought down by the people around you. Given that most strippers are <30 years old and relatively inexperienced in life, I guess it's an easy trap to fall in to.
This is what I notice at my current job. I am the cleanest of all the people selling that sort of paper both drugs and hygiene wise. Now it isn't a job you have to stop doing at 30 so there are some who've been doing it for decades (as far as that goes), and really the only one I have any sort of private relationship with is clean at the moment, but intends to take methadone again when he enrols uni.
I used to do it when I was 17, and back then I needed drugs to be able to do it, but it's not like that anymore and I earn a decent amount of money and have 100% flexible working hours.
I'm sorry, I think I've needed to vent that for weeks and it seemed to fit when I started writing.
