No, it's correct, Ash. I think I'd word it differently, but it's not wrong or anything. It's just disrupting my English thought flow. Or something.

I assume you mean this because what you wrote made little sense as it was.

What's the point. You should learn. We're trying to keep it from dying out. The vast majority of speakers have one toe in the grave. :(

Something about the Germans understanding Yiddish... not?

And yeah, I learned Hebrew for 4 years, so it should be RELATIVELY easy. Can you write it?

I think the problem I'd have that for languages,I'm more of a learning by doing type. 90% of my English is learned from videogames, books, being abroads, dating foreigners and types of media not mentioned yet.
Since there aren't many Yiddish speakers around at all, that could be complicated.

Yeah, I can write it (and Hebrew, obviously). There are pockets in Brooklyn where it's still spoken, and older folks in Israel (actually, that came in handy, because my knowledge of Hebrew is mostly liturgical and I don't know much modern vocabulary).

I learned biblical Hebrew.

I'd like to go to Israel, my sister-in-law lived there at one point and I think my psychotic Jewish ex (okay, technically he wasn't even Jewish) has moved there.

But I really want to learn French, Welsh, Spanish and Dutch, too. Smiley: frown

Sorry, my allegiance is with Guatemala.

Actually, the only Texan I knew IRL was pretty awesome.
