Well I have to admit that this is genius. The guys from the Pirate Bay have a a 30million SEK fine which they say they won't pay. However they have come up with a plan where all their users can join in which works like this.

Everyone sends a small amount of money in an electronic transfer to the law firm that represnted the music industry. Suggested amount is 1 SEK (equivalent to 0.13 USD. Apparently the law firm's bank account is only allowed 1000 electronic transactions before it starts to cost them, the account holder money.

The charge per transfer at this point is, wait for it... 2 SEK. Thus after the first 1000 SEK, if people send just 1 SEK it will cost the law firm more than the money they receive to process.

Welcome to the Distributed Denial of Dollars attack (DDo$)

I'm not sure if they can be sued for doing this, but I wish we could see their faces when they discover what's going on. ******* brilliant. Smiley: lol Don't **** with the internet.

I've set up a PayPal account in case supporting parties on this forum wish to donate to the cause yet don't want the transactions to be traced back to them.

Won't sending a single payment of collected donations defeat the purpose of sending in as many transactions as possible?

Or do you just mean a public paypal account or something?

Paypal is freaking annoying when you sell things on Ebay now. The buyer has to give you positive feedback before PP will release your funds. Smiley: mad

You might even get enough people to send $0.13 that you could buy a pack of smokes or something. Probably not, though.Smiley: lol

Maybe that way they can be sure people aren't doing things like selling boxes that used to contain a PS3 instead of an actual PS3?

I don't know the law in Sweden, but in the US they could not be sued. Of course, there's a 99% chance that the bank will waive/refund those fees, though. Pirate Bay isn't the first group to try this stunt. They're not the first this year. They're, like, the 897th this year. Banks are used to this stunt, and the long-term business of a law-firm means SO much more them that a piddling few grand in access fees.

Now that it's a Bittorrent tracker, though, it's cool and edgy.
