There was a song a couple of years ago called "27 Jennifers".

I went to school with 27 Jennifers
16 Jenns, 10 Jennies, and then there was her

It’s the sweet shine of,
Yeah, force of divine love
The blessed arrival of you

You might be the one that I’ve been seeking for
You might be the strange delightful
You might be the girly who shall end all girls
You might be the sweet unspiteful

I rode the bus with 27 Jennifers
15 Jenns, 10 Jennies disapproved of her

Yeah, get from my sight, man,
Gladness is a blight, and
Happiness stinks up the room

I'm a dude named Bailey (technically Joseph, but @#%^ that). I also have a second middle name I was not aware of until middle school or so, the first time I saw my birth certificate. Apparently when I was born there was large debate on whether my name was going to be after my Mom's father (Kenneth Bailey) or my Dad's father (Joseph Fordham). My dad won and I was was simply going to be Joseph Fordham, but at the hospital mom grabbed the birth certificate while my dad was in the restroom and scratched out my name and put Kenneth Bailey Fordham. The nurse just kinda went with it and I ended up Joseph Kenneth Bailey Fordham. My dad was presumably pissed.

You should kill one or both of them. That's just too many names for one person to have.

Michelle and Gemma annoy me. I lost count of the number of Michelles or Gemmas in my class at school.

There was also a pattern that most girls called Gemma were a little light in the brain matter department, just like thier parents.

I consider myself only Bailey Fordham. The kenneth never made it to any of my other legal documents, and I'm called joseph so infrequently (DMV and court only)it takes a few times for people talking directly at me to get my attention using it

I know a lot of people across a pretty wide range. I tend to like old people, though. They have stories.

We need more Elizabeths Smiley: nod
And there's like a thousand ways to shorten it. Eliza, Liz, Lizzie, Liza, Beth...I'm sure there are more.

I have a friend named Elizabeth. I call her Lizzard Breath when she's not paying attention.

Since I grew up in northern Maine, we had a lot of men named Rene (pronounced Rainy) and girls named, Renee--which was almost my name as was Julie. If I was a boy, my mom wanted to call me "Thaddeus" and I know they'd have just called me Fatteus or something. Smiley: mad

I like Sophie, though it is getting very common. My niece is named Eliana or Ellie for short. I think that's cute.

I hate the name, Renee, b/c I knew so many ******* with that name. Smiley: mad

Dorothy may be a little old fashioned but I see nothing wrong with it. Its a nice name. It does bring to mind images of chain smoking old dears with violent sons who never, ever buy a new coat (from the soap opera Eastenders). But its still a nice enough name.

So, now to rant ...

Whats wrong with Americans? One name is not good enough for you? Oh no .. you must have two. Not content with Katie .. it must be KatieLynn (and I could list off many many more but chosing a real poster just adds for value - sorry Katie).

More name does not mean quality, you silly people! Smiley: motz

Now that I've potentially insulted at least 1/3 of America I'll leave you be Smiley: nod

Yeah, my middle name is Jo but there was big battle between my mom and grandma, my grandma was in love with the name Jolene (dollypartonlol). My moms name is Joann, my grandma's was Jean so there was a big thing. My grandmother never called me by my given name, I was always her Jolene.

True story: My grandma (the same that called me Jolene) was chosen to sing at the Grand Ol' Opery back when my mom was a child, she had her own band and all that, anyways, my grandfather being the jealous drunk abusive SOB that he was took the tickets they'd sent her and ripped them up. Her place was in the kitchen, not on the stage apparently.

Sophia was going to be the default name for a daughter should Flea & I produce one. We both liked it for different reasons and were perfectly content with it.

Then it shot up to #2 in the Social Security list of most popular baby names. Flea booted it and we had to come up with a new one.
