It appears that Hobbits once roamed the earth

Quote:
Scientists have found more evidence that the Indonesian "Hobbit" skeletons belong to a new species of human - and not modern pygmies.

The 3ft (one metre) tall, 30kg (65lbs) humans roamed the Indonesian island of Flores, perhaps up to 8,000 years ago.

Since the discovery, researchers have argued vehemently as to the identity of these diminutive people.

I'm just questioning if they really died out. I know many short, dumpy and ugly people with little napoleon syndrome. Some seem to post here Smiley: tongue (just joining the current forum spirit)

It makes you wonder if the Welsh truly are a seperate race. Where did the ginger people come from and what on earth explains the french Smiley: dubious

I'm tired of being singled out because I'm ginger. I might have to go complain to an admin. Or all of the admins.

I'm completely confused by my duality of being intrigued and at the same time quite horrified of what could be posted! Smiley: smile

When God made gingers, he sat them out on the front porch completely disgusted with what he had created. Still displeased with creating them, after taking a ****, he threw the bedpan at the screen door. And this is how freckles were born.

Nice bed time story, eh?

So what you're saying is that if all the admins "combine", one of them will end up with a "Blazing Sword"?

In actual response to to the article, I'm still not convinced floresiensis is worthy of being labeled as a separate species. For one, it's certainly not below anthropologists to inflate weak theories and and push for the specification of fossils that fit rather comfortably into pre-existing species. *cough*Leakys*cough* Secondly, I don't think that the fossils that we have right show enough variation from sapiens to warrent calling them something else just yet.

I'm certainly not saying that "hobbits" can't have existed, nor am I saying that if they did they were not different enough to warrant being called floresiensis, but from the evidince I see from 2004 til now, I think they was just a bunch of midgets.

Edit for some clarification: I especially don't buy that "hobbits" are branched off of a different **** than sapiens. Were such the case I'd be expecting much different dentition in the hobbits, with a good deal less enameling than what they have.

I guess I'm just gonna rain on Brown and Morwood's parade and say, lets not try to rush classifying these fossils, we should have learned from the 60's about the problems rushing this causes.
