Wife's friend's day yesterday.

Called at work to go home, police are there.

Her son has been dealing drugs. A van has been watching their home for 3 weeks. 20 kids went there yesterday. Police decided to raid the place.

She get's home, police decide to tear her place apart. Son goes to jail. Police find two guns, one registered the other a family heirloom (VERY old gun) that her boyfriend JUST got but hasn't registered. Boyfriend goes to jail for illegal possession of a firearm.

Apparently the drugs haven't been paid for yet, so her ex husband decides not to give back her other son "fearing for his safety".

3rd son is nowhere to be found.

So in one day she lost 2-3 sons, a boyfriend, and probably a week's work and her sanity.

And she had no idea that any of this was going on?

She didn't know he was dealing, she knew he was an idiot (he's been in trouble before).

As for the gun, I doubt it. It's his great grandfathers old hunting rifle or something like that. He has another rifle that's fully registered. I'm not even sure the one he was arrested for is in working condition. He just recently got it, bad timing, it's too bad he didn't get around to registering it. He's looking at jail time for the firearms charge, the guy has 4 kids of his own, he's like the model father, never been in trouble, it's really kind of ridiculous.

Yeah, that's a not good time.

Related story probably not of interest: I had a friend who's husband was dealing (just pot and just to friends because it was simply cheaper to buy in bulk). Anyway, one of the friends brings this other guy over one day to pick up a bag of weed. Husband isn't crazy about it when friends do that, but doesn't think too much of it. Turns out, naturally, that "other guy" works for the police. Next day, police raid the apartment...of course, it's 2:30 in the afternoon and the only one home is the 12 year old daughter so she gets the door kicked down in front of her as she goes to answer it, gun in her face...entire place gets turned upside down around her and then they let her leave. She walks to a friends and calls and warns her parents. Now the friend is a school teacher, so she's freaking out (yes, she knew he "dealt" but never thought much of it because she didn't mind him smoking and the selling felt more to her like buying in bulk at Sam's club and sharing than it did "dealing"). Her husband turns himself in but she's got the 12 year old and a 9 year old and they're all staying at the grandparent's house while her husband goes to jail and she tries to go over to the apartment after work to find things/clean up/etc. Of course, the arrest was in all the local papers so her coworkers and the parents of the kids she teaches were all aware...how miserable.

It was a while back. She thought they'd find a way to "let her go" but they actually seemed pretty supportive. At any rate, my point is that it's a horrible situation but hopefully contingencies will come together and everything will settle down for her soon.

REALLY ****** about the unregistered firearm.
