Mine were £125, which wasn't so bad.

Little known fact, glasses have hidden stats. IQ+50 in most cases. Smiley: grin

The teacher moved her to the back of the class, where she sits, alone. She can't see the board from there and thus resulted in lower grades. The teacher refused to move her, but did tell me that Kai could get up to copy the board if she needed to. BS from my POV. Which was confirmed when her teacher came to my car that afternoon of her first glasses wearing day to tell me she didn't realize just how bad Kai's eyes were and how much better she was doing. can you complain to the board? thats a really cruddy teacher. :( poor Kai. Why the hell did she sit her all the way in the back, is she some sicko Letourno type teacher?

"she can't behave while sitting up front"

The issue is, the teacher doesn't like dealing with Kailey complaining that so and is pulling her hair, or stealing her pencil, and she let's it escalate until Kai cries. Then she promptly sends her to the principal.

It said "...so now I can see", which was awful sentence structure!

Also, yus. I still need to get a Camera or something...

Sounds like you need to smack that teacher around a little.

Back when I was in my 1st year of Primary School the teacher refused to believe I had arthritis in my hands. Claiming I was "Too Young" and that I was just lazy, which is why my writing was so slow.

This was soon remedied when my mother too it upon herself to really lay into said teacher. Good times.

Haha, my primary school teacher didn't know anything about West Berlin geography. She was such a ****.

In college, nearly all the teachers were afraid of saying "heroin". It was an issue and the only ones who could deal with it were the ones who had addicts as family or friends, namedly our Russian/football teacher and an English/rugby teacher. Out of 55 or so.

Not that I'm saying heroin addiction is like arthritis. Well, it can feel pretty similar I think.

This gives me no hope DF... Daycare fees will be sucked up by glasses and stuff? Man, wish that had been in the training manual.

Uh what?

Nobody gets glass glass lenses anymore. It's all polycarbonate and such. That's not what makes them cost $300.

Whatever they are called, I don't need them. Smiley: tongue Yeah, that and the scratch proof crap, the frames didn't cost 300. And they charge me PER lens, not per glasses like most places do. And at this point I don't care, she can see and the money is gone, no point in arguing about it, is there?

Ya, it's the thickness of them that makes them cost more. To get thinner lenses you pay more money.

You can get cheap 10-20 dollar/lens lenses that are plastic, but super thick for the same prescription. Or you can get Polycarb, or even "super" polycarb, which reduce the thickness, are stronger, etc. But they can cost upwards of 70-80 dollars per lens.

Then of course your "cute frames" add on another 150-180 dollars.

All the local places and even Wal-mart charge per lens here. In reality it's no different... they charge you 55 dollars per lens, or 110 for both.

My last pair of glasses was $110 for frame and $25 each for lenses (plastic).

The scratch-proof isn't. It's hardly scratch-resistant IMO.

Of course, I need new eyes, not new glasses, but that's another story.Smiley: nod

I need to get out the bill, but the pretty frames were a 100ish. Plus two lenses, and then I think there's scratch resist coating, but I don't remember. I am just glad she can see!

I had NO idea that thin ones were more expensive, that seems odd.

Well, thin but the same corrective power as a thicker lens. So it's a better lens, a different material.

My prescription safety glasses are about 1.5x as thick as my Polycarb glasses for every day use. Same prescription, and the lenses I have for everyday use were much more expensive (59 per compared to 10 per).

Yeah, it could be a lot worse. I paid 45 for the exam, 210 for the nifty flexible thin wire frames, and 350 for the ultra thin and light scratch resistant lenses with the anti glare coating and the UV protection. Of course I also got a free pair of prescription sunglasses with 150 dollars frames and the same horrifically expensive lenses. So it wasn't too bad since I have two pair for that cost.

I didn't realize how bad my vision had gotten since my last new pair. I went in to pick them up and was shocked at how much more clear everything became when I first put on the new glasses.

Yeah, I got the thin lenses too because my left eye is so much worse than my right, it looks weird with regular glass.

I did wear my new glasses last night. Felt.... strange.
