Doesn't have to be one or the other. There is a middle ground; so much, in fact, that the appropriate middle ground needs to be defined.

But whatever. If you all want to set it up so that forum moderation is sacrosanct, like Blizzard does (for one example), then so be it.

I don't find Blizzard's boards especially friendly or usable, though. Maybe that's partly because there is no PM system.

It's not so much about the current climate here, and more about the fact that I don't want to frequent a site where I don't have any respect for the people who run it.

Seriously, don't let the door hit you where the good lord split ya. Losing respect? Pfft. What the hell ever. Just go if your going to be a gaping bloody ****** about it. I understand your a queen and all that but lose the drama.

One of the other forums I'm on also has a "Report Post" button, similar to the "Report Image" function on here. Clicking it removes it from the thread until admin review. Something like that may be helpful on this board, though you'd obviously need to keep track of people who abuse the function. Something like that would certainly be useful for the goldspammers that seem to take up a lot of the admins' time. One glaring issue I foresee would be users reporting posts that should be dealt with instead by utilizing the karma system.

Yeah, you'd definitely have to be able to limit or remove a poster's ability to use that function.

Jesus Katie has mood swings. Smiley: lol

Any other day of the week she'd be on her knees, licking Nix's fabulous boots and begging him to post more.

The problem with this is that oftentimes such PM's grievances are an issue that many are concerned with. Would you rather have 200 PM's saying "This sucks," or one thread saying "Does anyone else think this suck?" and deal with it publicly?

200 PM's?! XD

And, yes.. I'd much rather wade through 200 PM's regarding an issue than let the rest of the community have to drill down through threads of drama that they could give two turds about.

Right. Because, if there's one problem with Forum=3, it's the massive traffic there flooding "genuine forum issues" off the page Smiley: rolleyes

I for one will never promote any of our contests in a forum again. I did it because i hoped someone here would win, and because i thought the odds were better than most. if other aspects had not changed, the date error would have been meaningless. regardless, of oot posters, katielynn is the only one with a legitimate complaint steming from my error. the others need to be taken up with those who made them (regarding the contest).

.

Kao, I have no beef. I was upset for about 20 minutes and then I moved on. I wasn't upset with you or really any of the admins here. I was upset with the contest rules by the actual gaming company, not with you guys. Again, 20 minutes later and I was back to regular happy me. I hate that you are getting so much flack from this. It was an honest mistake, you corrected yourself and what people don't know is that you made a personal apology to me in PMs. It wasn't something you needed to do, I totally understand these things happen. I don't want you to stop promoting stuff, if you hadn't promoted it I wouldn't have known about it and I really did have fun writing that story. It's all good.

Unfortunately these jeckels are in a pack mentality, when one goes for the easy target the rest start chiming in just to stir the pot. No worries, Kao. The rest of us know that you aren't out to be the ZOMG **** MEAN TERRIBLE ADMIN OF DOOM, you just do your job and you catch hell. Anyways, thank you for the apology, you didn't need to make it and I'm sorry that this is all such drama.

You wanna know what I'm upset about? All this crap that's going on over a few mutings. We need a banning to legitimize all of this. I nominate Driftwood to ante up and be the scapegoat.

Um.. no. I'm seriously tired of seeing so many people jumping on the admins. They didn't set out for this to be such drama. People stirring the pot and pushing and pushing made this happen. I blame the posters who are now threatening to leave and the ones that are (thankfully) muted for this current drama.

I blame Senjiow for being a bleeding ****. And most likely, a vast drain upon your social services.

Though we aren't really on the subject any more I feel like noting, if perhaps it was ambiguous before. I was wrong about the definition of sorry before and therefore wrong about all points regarding that usage, though I still think the definition of apology is contestable.

Ash, I understand you think this is a shank or be shanked kind of thing, but it's not. I'm just tired of the whole " I'm going to leave, really! This is it. I'm never coming back. You can't stop me. ..... ok fine, I'll stay since you're not going to buy into my ****". Leave or STFU.

So, they didn't ***** up the contest, which is kind of what started this ball rolling? Well, that's a relief.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if the contest did get screwed up, the backlash that followed was unwarranted. The continued spite was merely icing on the cake. I really truly wish some of you ******* would quit complaining and leave already. A good number of posters here are just fine with or without a couple of you and would rather let the drama die and the rebels disappear.
