Well, okay, but extending the analogy: I'd certainly talk to the clerk first before I fly over his head and complain to his boss. This is common courtesy. My complaint to his boss could get him fired, and if he's made a mistake I'd prefer to give him the chance to fix it.

Well yes, but you wouldn't speak to the clerk over the intercom so that everyone could hear you.

I might given half a chance. I'm kind of a ***** in real life.

Save the welcomes. I'm making an effort to work things out with Kaolian, but the outcome remains to be seen. In the meantime, though, the temptation to annoy Katie was far more than I could resist.

No, the point of contention is "making a scene".

If you think anything said/done in public can be counted as "making a scene" because it's in public then we're just going to disagree. But, hey, at least compare it to a group of people talking calmly -- largely amongst themselves -- at McDonald's about how slow the service is instead of comparing it to screaming, mutiny, standing on desks, yelling over counters and all that sort of thing.

Honestly, I dunno. You'll notice I wasn't very vocal about the contest or even about the mutes, but more about the subsequent statements.

If I felt like it was my only chance to be heard before I flounced out and did my shopping elsewhere, I might.

I've never felt that strongly about a bag of chips, though, so I can't really say.

If it doesn't work out, forward me the PMs.

I consider calling out an admin on an issue he has already addressed rather than taking it up with him in private to be making a scene.

Either way the signal to noise ratio was pretty low. People are going to have their say, and it's certainly more natural in a forum where one is a regular poster to have one's say in that forum.

Especially if there are lulz to be had.

No, you stupid ****, I got exactly the reaction I was hoping for, The people who give two ***** about me decided they didn't want me out of their lives, and PMed me their information to contact them outside of this site. Then, I decided that trying to stop coming to this site, which is my internet home, would be an exercise in futility. So I decided to facetiously claim that this was a trolling attempt in an effort to diffuse the initial post, and declare that I changed my mind about leaving.

I missed this before but... um, what? Are we not allowed to complain now in PM or something? Your suggestion up for approval seems to be to do the exact same thing we can do now.

Now here is a perfect opportunity for an apology. I am very sorry that I mis-worded that. I have suggested that all issues with an Administrator or Moderator be taken to PM. I fully expect it to be added to the rules eventually and enforced across all the forums on the ZAM.com network.

I apologize for the mis-communication. For those that wish to pick it apart further..

Might not be the best choice of imagery Spyder, considering your position and teh feelings of many at the moment.

Jesus, these shop analogies are boring the tits off me.

Katie you called me out the other day saying I was kissing ***, well you've surpassed the *** in your blind enthusiasm and are currently making your way through to the larynx. You're so out of whack on this subject I feel I need to go to the Oboards to check your replies, because that's where they belong.

Allegory is making his point, but at least he's making it without exploding in mess of tits and temper. People are just making a point, not declaring war.

Pour yourself a glass of wine and chill the **** out.

I was trollin".

You still don't get it. Jeeze you're as dense as your uninhabitable uterus. No one told me in PMs to grow up. The only PMs I got were genuine "I'll miss you, here's a way to contact me." I'm not playing it off, the "I was trolling" comment was a ******* joke. People aren't allowed to change their minds now? I don't see that posted in the rules sticky.

You're just pissy that you aren't as big of a thing for the OOT as you thought. Spyder had it right when he said you'd be forgotten and replaced in about 2 weeks.

The problem with this is that oftentimes such PM's grievances are an issue that many are concerned with. Would you rather have 200 PM's saying "This sucks," or one thread saying "Does anyone else think this suck?" and deal with it publicly?

If it was me I'd definitely prefer the former. This goes both ways too; I wouldn't want an administrator calling me out directly in a public letter. We could try to respect the administrators in the same fashion. I know it's a bit of a different situation, and that admins especially need to be held to higher standards than users, simply because users really have no power to abuse. I'm sure it's still extremely irritating when a user calls you out directly though, regardless of relative power.

Mindel of course makes an extremely astute post via anna, but there was nothing said in her thread that couldn't have been PM'ed, regardless of how right she might be about the issue itself.
