So what part of that isn't criticism?

Well, Mindel's thread was obnoxious and misleading. Just like a lot of Mindel's threads. It probably didn't deserve a mute, but when you've stood up and told the admin that you won't stop ******** until he mutes you, can you really act indignant when he mutes you?

I don't know. It's like telling the FBI at a hostage standoff that they won't take you alive, and then being shocked when they shoot at you.
Did you actually read it? It was criticism, and nothing more. No dares, no standoffs, just criticism. Also: in before lock.

And it was stupid and wrong. She basically chided Kao for doing his job, in the process trying to reinvent his job to fit her expectations and then blaming him for not conforming to them. Kao is a forum admin. For a web site where 50% of the traffic occurs in the forums, it's common sense that the forum admin is responsible for playing traffic cop and yes, at times, nanny. It's unreasonable to expect any web site, especially a gaming site to allow a few long-term members to continue to negatively impact the forum population and lower the potential income of the site. I'm surprised it's been left alone this long, and I'm surprised it's only a mute.

Mindel played the part of the unruly ***** at the checkout stand who insists that it's perfectly reasonable for her to delay the serving of the 15 other carts in line while granny cashier is forced to run to isle 36 to do a price check on a $0.99 can of beans that accidentally rang up as $1.09. There's a point when the fact that you're a paying customer becomes irrelevant.

Lastly, if you're going to proceed to tell an admin they aren't doing their job, lacing the post with insults and mockery is no mature way to voice your opinion and have it taken seriously.

Senjiow I really think you need to put down the spade and admit to yourself "This is about deep enough." Posting more at the moment isn't really helping you out.

The mute on Mindel was issued solely because of the manner she chose to voice her complaints. Had she done so without resulting to personal attacks, she probably would have warrented a different response. I would have issued a mute regarding that particular thread regardless of the admin it was directed at.

You can disagree with admins, you can even argue with us to a certain degree, but if you want us to consider your position you need to avoid personal attacks.

I fail to see how you come to this conclusion. Senj ******* about a long-in-the-tooth joke, Kao culled some posts and BT/Mindel took exception to this.

Are you saying that when a job is stressful and busy it gives you cart blanche to do what you wish without any justification? Because I could really do with smiting some ***-hats at work right now.

No it doesn't. It doesn't matter how pissed off I am or busy I have to treat my peers with decorum. It strikes me that this is not how this matter was handled.

I think what needs to be understood, is that Kaolian got exactly what he wanted, and BT and Mindel knowingly gave it to him. He got to mute the two biggest "bullies" for a week, and he, Senji, and the other nerds are now free to dance and play without oppression and scathing remarks. What he really wants is for neither of them to come back, which is a big possibility (I know on this end at least).

I also want to clarify that BT got not a single PM regarding the issue(s). Any warnings or other discussions of the "infractions" were posted on the forums, ambiguously at that. Kao was trying to create a sh*tstorm. So, those of you who are butthurt are making Kao really happy right now, because frankly, he's one of the worst bullies of them all.

So over the time BT has been a poster, he's never been warned about his behavior...

it's not an overnight thing, usually it's an over time thing. You get warned, you ignore it and eventually you get some sort of disciplinary action. :/

Rather than continue making these kinds of posts, you could contact Illia or Allakhazam. Further ranting, almost never ends well. (nix you know that because you were around for almost ALL of my disciplinary actions.)

If you have a problem, the best thing to do is email (or try PM) a higher up - you might not like the answer but you do have options. You can also quit but realize that in time you will be almost forgotten. (Like Skeet, Thundra, others I cant remember....)

You really do need to crawl out of Mindel and BT's *** and look at what actually happened. Forget about the Senji joke - this really has nothing to do with that. BT was being stand-offish and Kao warned him. BT then proceeded to directly attack Kao and got muted. Mindel used that as a platform for her own attempt at "rallying the troops" and got herself muted. Both incidents were predictable. Your disapproval at the administrative actions is misplaced, IMO.

Nothing Kaolian did was abusive or reflective of a personal vendetta.

Perhaps the problem is that the admins are often too chummy with the posters. No matter how friendly they are, arguing with admins is not like arguing with another poster. They are the cops, and you don't fight cops. You can't win if you try to have a flame war.

Why is it that admins are immune to "personal attacks?" The rest of the ******* board isn't. Except Senjiow apparently.

They aren't immune. They've been attacked plenty. However, being in a position of power, they are afforded a certain amount of respect, whether you like it or not. Being purposefully ignorant of this fact is no excuse.

I can vouch for that. A fine example is when I had a hissy fit over being asked to remove my jiggling booby avatar (such was the theme back then but people who had issues with me reported it, then gloated afterwards....I took that gloating out on Kao :/ publically)

Had I taken the time to discuss things via PM with Kao, I wouldn't have gotten myself in more trouble. He REALLY is reasonable if you take the time to talk to him.

BECAUSE THEY'RE ADMINS! I can't believe you don't get that.

You do understand that Kaolian can't say to me, you, or any other user of this board "you're a ******* moron who deserves to die?" They can't personally attack you, and you can't personally attack them.

It's not really what he was saying. Maybe this will clear it up.

We are not "peers". Mindel is not "peer". Mindel is "customer" and Kaolian is "service provider".

Seeing as Mindel is a customer, if she expected to improve Kaolian's attitude, she shouldn't start by calling him an inefficient, egotistical douche. That's just going to shut a lot of doors straight away. Now, Mindel is not dumb and knew this, which was exactly why she phrased her post the way she did.

She is asking for attention, like the shouty ***** at the checkout counter when you were working at the local supermarket. She wants to get angry about something and have everyone talk about her for a while. All of this - all of it - is trivial drama ******** blown nineteen sizes out of proportion because Mindel and BT get a hardons from mocking authority figures.

By making nine different topics to rummage over the minutiae of the event itself we are only furthering their goals of having the whole Internet talk about how much they love/hate Mindel/BT.

yeah, I do have to agree. If an admin acts on something that involves you as the "victim" it's best to just keep your mouth shut. Gloating is provoking. Senji, I know you have a substantial amount of stress right now, so instead of fixating on this, take a break, play free realm or something.

Because there is an expectation that as we are in a position of power, we are generally forbiddon from responding in kind. That is why.

I kind of wish I still had money for gym membership. Going to a gym with friends is a great way to boost your self-esteem.
