In 1 year that I've been here, that stuff happened once a month, at most. Now, its happening 2-3 times a week. That is a sudden shift Nix.

Doesn't this also prove that there has been a shift in the posting habits of the OoT? The admins aren't the only people that have changed.

That's why there needs to be better self moderation here in the OoT. All that really needs to happen here, is for the OoT as a collective hive mind to figure out, that there is already a forum to be R rated, the Asylum.

Care to explain why, if this is true, Varrussword was banned?

Granted, I didn't agree with his point of view, but if the "anything goes" point of view was really true, he'd still be posting.

He didn't spam, he didn't karma camp, etc.

That was my thought. The fact that incidents garnering complaints have become more frequent does not indicate a shift in administration. The shift in administration is a direct result of the shift in posting styles. Simple cause and effect.

Varrussword was before my time, but I'd bet money, that there is a method to the madness somewhere.

Yes there is.

He was a racist ******* *******, which would be otherwise unacceptable on the other forums, except, as far as I know, he kept his drivel in the Asylum where it is "The Asylum: No holds barred forum for deep OOT discourse. Not for the faint of heart."

Many Asylumites already said he shouldn't have been banned.

So, what's the solution? Ugly brought up a great point, and I don't feel it was addressed. "Take any Asylum-esque posts to the Asylum." Well, ok. If I wanted to create a thread that was raunchy, I can do that in the Asylum. No problem.

But that's not how it works. 9 times out of 10, threads are created and they degenerate into something Asylum-esque. So, if someone posts something exceptionally moronic and I want to call them on it, I need to make an "ICO" thread in the Asylum that the person it's directed at won't see?

Or is it, as someone else said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?" I don't, personally, feel as though I have crossed any lines, but then again I look back at the Kechup debacle and wonder, if that had happened last week, would I be muted now? Would I get threatened with a ban? Sometimes, I get pissy. So I take that out on here. For one week a month, I need to make sure I only post in the Asylum?

And, like Mindel said, the tone there is completely different. I enjoy reading their discussions, but I don't participate all that often because I don't have much to say on those topics, and I don't know them as well. Or, if we all migrate over there and the =4 regulars don't like us and call us all names, do we all need to just complain to an admin so that we can cycle this issue into an =4 issue?

All it proves is that there's been a sudden increase of administration. I don't think the posting styles have changed much in the last 7-8 months, with the exception of less NO U, etc.. spam. It's gotten no harsher in my eyes. I see the same crap getting nuked/locked now that was ignored before. What has changed is the frequency of nuking/locking despite the content being the same as before.

For instance, the lines you've thrown at me should've gotten you banned from this site months ago. Why isn't it an issue? Because I don't care. The difference Nix, is in the complainers, not the content.

GUISE I HAVE A SOLUTATION.

Let's give everybody their own forum and see which one becomes the most popular.

I honestly don't have a solution, I just wanted to try and steer a good deal of the OoT away from some nebulous unnameable punishment that may be hovering over them. The way things have been going recently, that situation is seemingly boiling to a head. I'm trying to divert it.

I, personally, think the OoT could use a little bit of the "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?" mentality. Recently, it's started to get out of hand. I'll blame BT, because he would want it that way, but that's not really the case. You can't really pinpoint the turn, but, this place really is becoming Asylum V2.

Yeah, considering Kaain and I were making jokes about his mother getting object-raped by a city alderman on the steps of his high-school...

I appreciate your trying to keep us from punishment. Smiley: smile I wasn't necessarily asking you, personally, what the solution is. Just if any admin has a plan besides, "Play nice, or else."

Jophiel points this one out, usually, but this time I'll do it.

No hold barred applies to Admins, too. Smiley: sly

That and one thing is to be racist but the time of his banning he was getting really really nasty racist. Nobody in that forum wanted him around, either. It's one of those "oh FFS let's just swat this fly already" type of thing.

BTW, I had a good power nap. I feel alot better.
