I'm kind of sick of drinking the same crap all the time and was thinking of picking up something with a little taste to it. Any suggestions? Must be available from Beer stores in the Oshawa Ontario area http://www.thebeerstore.ca/.

I would, but I'm not sure if he knows what's available up here.

Sorry, the only beer I could recommend is not available at that store.

http://www.sierranevada.com/beers/celebrationale.html

A seasonal brew from Sierra Nevada, they start bottling in October and stop distributing in January I think. It's about the ONLY beer I will actually drink on a regular basis when available.

It's pretty strong for American beer, 6.8% alchohol by volume, and has a very hoppy flavor. I do not like stouts or bitters but damn I love me some Celebration Ale!!

Do you liek reds or honey browns? The Rickards honey Brown is surprisingly good. Sleeman's cream ale is good too. I'm not real familiar with the Ontario brands, so I can't really tell you much about those.

As well, the Sam Adam's Boston Lager is pretty good too.

I would try the Rasberry Mead, and just in case that sucks pick up the Samuel Adams Boston Lager.

I live in Colorado and a HUGE beer here is Fat Tire made by New Belgium Brewing Company, but I didn't see that at the store you linked...

I think it's actually hard to suggest a good beer, because for it to be universally recognized like budweiser or coors, that usually means it tastes like crap but it's cheap.

Most "good" beers I ever had are localized (i.e. only available in a few states or a few countries) so I would recommend trying to find something brewed by a local brewery. These breweries have to make good tasting beer, because thier circulation is so small if it tastes like crap people will just buy the often cheaper crap beer like coors and bud.

Not big on the honey browns or reds, I don't usually like sweet stuff, and they tend to have this weird fruity sweet aftertaste to me.

Might try the Sam Addams. I was thinking of trying something dark and thick with a fairly strong taste. Like a really super awesome expensive first coffee of the morning slap you in the face while you unpucker your tongue taste, but still drinkable.

Actually, IF (yes, that's a big if) you can get an unspoiled Moosehead, its not bad. Good luck doing that outside of NB though. And Blue is good for using in a beer bong and that's about it.

It's a lighter beer, with a bit of a bitter bite. Comes in those stupid green bottles though, so skunky isn't out of the question. Although, it doesn't skunk as bad as Moosepiss

Stella > Grolsch by a long way.

Also, if you can, get Whychwood's Hobgoblin ale.

I've had 8 Blue sitting in my fridge that someone left at my house and told me to drink. They've been there for 4 months. I ran out of beer one day last week. I'd already had 3 beers so I couldn't drive.

Instead of subjecting myself to the watered down vegetable oil torture that is Blue I walked 25 minutes to the beer store and bought a six pack of Laker (buck-a-beer) with the change in my pocket. It was worth it.

Might try it sometime, but I'm looking for something heavier for tonight.

I agree, but Stella is also a lot more common and Yoda could find it in probably 40-50% of the bars/restaurants he may pop by.

I like Hoegaarden, Franziskaner Hefeweizen/Dunkelweizen, Samuel Smith's Oatmeal/Imperial Stout, Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout... and many more?

Just for reference, I usually drink Molson Canadian. I'm looking for something completely different with a stronger taste, so light lagers are probably off the list.

You are one sad little man. Stop getting sucked in by the commercials. You can be Canadian and not drink the ****.

Go with Guinness. It's tried and tested to be good in my book. Just don't get the 'Extra Stout' one.
