A Tribute to Iorek Byrnison:

I'm sorry, but what could ever be more awesome than a talking polarbear blacksmith-warrior who wears armor made from meteoric iron?

fanart but still pretty cool.

So yes, Iorek Byrnison, you are my hero - because all polarbears should talk and wear armor...in fact...we should start a non-profit organization that puts armor on real life polarbears.

That last picture was kind of lame.

But the bear looks like he could beat up Aslan.

I'm still wary of the movies. Theres no way they could make them theatre-safe and keep the full sense of the books.

Not without mobs of pissed off Catholics anyway.

I'm really hoping that the first movie is great, because if it does well they'll really be able to go out with the other two, which is where the catholics will really start coming out in force. Not to mention I'm really interested in seeing who gets casted as Will. God damnit but I love these books too much for them to sidestep the religious issues! Smiley: mad

Aslan can do that whole resurrection thing...on the other Hand I think Iorek is about 3-4x Aslan's size...plus he has armor. Also, pretty sure Aslan can only resurrect one time, or something - about a great stone table.

My church friends are all over my *** because I want to see this movie, they say it's against Jesus - I then ask them if they've ever read the books? They of course, say no. My biggest issue with members of my own "religion" or whatever - they are SO FREAKING FAST to condemn something without even trying to understand it.

They keep telling me that the only reason that I want to see the movie is to make them angry with me - they also tell me that I'm not a good Christian because I keep posting myspace bulletins that it's not going to be THAT bad. The books were, relatively anti-christian, but mostly anti-catholic and beyond all else, it was mostly about thinking for yourself.

The big kicker is that it's ok for them to post bulletins condemning it, while I'm committing treason against Jesus for saying that it's a great book, and recommending that people go see the film adaptation.

It's like really frustrating.

Even if I were to renounce my Faith(AGAIN) - I still believe in non-violence....I'm more of the "never talk to me again" type.

I like the books a lot, and I'm worried about the movie also, but it has a huge budget and I think the studio will do a good job with it. I just hope they dont push out the 2nd and 3rd ones super fast if it does well.

QFT

I only have a few friends like this, but I always try to push them into actually analyzing their thought process at least a little bit. I haven't read the books yet, I'll have to check them out. Accepting criticism of what you believe and thinking about it is how you come to a better understanding of who you are and what you believe. Anything else and you just stagnate.

Catholics will go see this movie and will just feel bad about it afterwards.
(this problem is easily solved by drinking, however)

It's the so called "christians" who'll be outside protesting.

Oh, and Armored Blacksmith Warrior Polorbears are simply this year's Sharks with Lazers.
