My top 10
10)
Victory Hop Devil One of my first brews as I began my journey to discovering great beer. A loyal hoped companion. Nice malt balance and enough hops to let you know you are drinking a real beer.
9)
Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA The mother of hops, this bad boy lives a life consumed in hops, from brewing to aging; releasing a potent, punch you in the tongue hop presence not seen in many other beers. 20% Alc, this thing drinks like a port, sipped for an hour plus. It also commemorates the engagement of me and my wife.
8)
Dogfish Head ApriHop Brewed with real apricots and hopped subtly makes for a welcome addition to the Top Ten. This beer also holds a special place in my heart. It is my wife's favorite beer.
7)
Troegs Mad Elf Christmas in a bottle as far as I am concearned. Warming alcohol disguised by a smooth mouth coating of honey and cherry. The Holidays do not begin until I pour my first goblet of this delicious libation.
6)
Stone IPA Another faithful companion though my journeys. There is never a time that this beer won't satisfy. Crisp hops but not the type that dries you out. Blessed with the brewing techniques of the master crafters of Stone Brewing, this IPA never fails.
5)
Stone Arrogant ******* Whats not to like about a beer that totes so much arrogance, you feel like you could take down macro beer all by yourself with one sip. A reveler, whose charm can overbear the weak and strengthen men and women alike to a pedestal higher then any mere mortal can reach. High Alcohol, high Hops and high Malt.
4)
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate! From the first smell to the last sip, this stout is one of my favorites year round. Not the most robust of stouts but overpowering the smooth chocolate would be a sin. When consumed, it grants the drinker an English accent and a monocle.
3)
Troegs Nugget Nectar A beer worthy of noting on a calendar its limited release. Available for only a month or so, this perfectly balanced double IPA was merely lore until it found its way into my local liquor store two years ago. Bought by the case, not the six pack this beer represents all that a heavily hoped beer, malted beer should taste like. Often imitated but nothing can compare. Some just think, throw hops in! It'll work, but nope. The power can only be wielded by this deity of the craft beer world.
2)
Left Hand Milk Stout A stout of legend in the OoT. Its power to satisfy has been felt around the globe. So satisfying it can drive a man insane when unavailable. Its a price you pay being devoted to such a fine craft stout. It can drive you to inane ramblings and nervous ticks. Smooth, creamy, wet and refreshing. A special blend of milk sugars is what gives this stout it smoothness and taste. Not to be confused with hearty stouts, this one doesn't not require the typical heavy infusion of roasted malts, its a stout all its own.
1)
Stone Russian Imperial Stout Here it is. The greatest beer known. A Stout of course, but not just any stout, an Imperial Stout. Rightfully the king, this libation requires at least a year in solitude to reach its full potential. It rewards the patient with a taste of the Gods, High malt character, disguised warming alcohol that hides more with aging. Coffee and chocolate undertones and low carbonation. A rare beer to find, and ever rarer beer to make it through the aging process. The year old power can be increased by further aging. Wait five years then you will have this beer's final form.
