Oh, I am sure there's a post about this buried somewhere, but I'm not sure if I want to sift through the OoT forums to find out.

So, on a completely different topic than my other post, what kind of music does everyone enjoy?

I find it exceedingly difficult to pin down a particular genre that I like, however, my favorite artists are Tool, Massive Attack, Tori Amos, Radiohead, Sneaker Pimps, and Bond to name a few. The singer from Tool, Maynard James Keenan, just released his side project album today (Puscifer, "V is for V***ina" LOL) and so far I like it a lot. Very chill music, great for listening to on the computer while playing games.

So, share your favorite music! I am a music person and always want to be introduced to new, good stuff. :)

I don't know why, but I've been into some really weird stuff. One minute I'll be listening to Paramore, the next it'll be some local band. Then Bush will come on and blow my mind.

I listen to a lot of ska, if I had to put a thumb on a genre. I really love Jazz, and wanted to be in the band in my school days just to learn to play the sax, but I was also into sports so it was kind of tough on my schedule and I eventually decided against it. Crying shame, really. I'm also a very big fan of some of the older styles of rock and roll, more or less the grunge and punk days.

I'm also a fan of certain types of foreign music, mostly ambient stuff or certain Trance music that comes out of places like Germany and Japan.

I guess I'm just pretty freaking odd.

Yeah, I think a lot of it depends on my mood, though. I listen to a very wide vatiety of things, but I go through phases. It's October so I have been listening to a lot of Type o Negative for instance.

Also, I too like a lot of Japanese music...I took Japanese in college, so that (and FFXI, believe it or not) help me to not forget what I spent quite a long tiem slaving over. Anime would help too, but I've never been much of a TV/anime person...

I did see the first season or so of Bleach, and a few episodes of Death Note. I liked both. My favorite anime is definitely Serial Experiements Lain, I first watched that in high school. I've seen some anime, just not a whole lot, usually because I can't be beothered to remember to keep downloading episodes, heh. I should get back into Bleach.

Even music these days I tend to have a different approach, I don't like the majority of the songs on the radio so I find new music mostly by recommendations from other people.
#13 Oct 30 2007 at 10:40 PM Rating: Good
I haven't watched Lain, maybe I should.
#14 Oct 30 2007 at 11:05 PM Rating: Good
The reason I liked Lain so much was because I think it had a lot to say about the evolution of technology, and the significance it can have on people's lives, and even their personal/spiritual beliefs. Once I started playing MMO's, then I really began to see the series in a new light as well..I understood the concepts better. You should definitely check it out, I believe it's only 13 episodes, too.

Favorite music? Industrial, Dark Wave, New Wave, Electronica, Trance, Hip-hop, Rap, Techno, hell I even like a bit of Country. Generally though, I stick with electronic music. The distorted sounds are like crack to me.
#17 Oct 30 2007 at 11:18 PM Rating: Good
Yeah, I am definitely more into electronic music the past couple of years, especially groups such as Massive Attack, Hooverphonic, and Thievery Corporation. It's not exactly techno, perhaps more of a "jazzy electronic" type of music.

I also like some really strange stuff...this Puscifer album fits the bill. Also, Radiohead's "Kid A: is still an all-time favorite and that album was like, complately out of left field, heh.

I applaud you. /clap /clap /clap /can I stop now?

Perfect Circle, Deftones, Sublime are also my primary music choices. I throw a little Hatebreed(not often), Static X, and some early-mid 90's Rap in the mix every now and then. And some 60's and 70's music with a bit of Classical rounds out some nice music choices for me, because you can't really appreciate good music til you can appreciate Classical.

#20 Oct 30 2007 at 11:53 PM Rating: Good
Oh dear god I could talk about Tool all night. Seriously, I could. Thankfully, I won't just yet. :)

About the classical comment, totally agree. Also, my policy tends to be that I don't care what genre music is as long as it's good...but of course certain genres have a higher chance of containing quality music than others. =P

Come on now, just say what we all know you really mean.

Rap, as a genre, can be generally classified as crap.

Don't blame you, I wouldn't want to either.

Favorite music? Industrial, Dark Wave, New Wave, Electronica, Trance, Hip-hop, Rap, Techno, hell I even like a bit of Country. Generally though, I stick with electronic music. The distorted sounds are like crack to me.

I only really listen to music when I'm driving around with Rimes. So I listen to whatever is playing on his iPod. At the same time though, it exposes me to new sounds that I don't normally listen to or even heard of. I mean ****, I never heard of KMFDM until Rimes played in the car one day.

Goddamnit goose, when you're "list of favorite songs" takes up nearly 50% of a 23-post thread, it's too fucking long.

Right now I'm really into Angels And Airwaves' new album "I-Empire".

Awesome ****.

I listen to just about every genre. Currently, I seem to be listening to jazz, rap, and classic rock. It generally breaks down into rap/hip hop while driving, jazz while doing schoolwork/studying, and classic rock while at work.
