Anyway, I saw Smashing Pumpkins at the Wembly Arena in '97 and they were ******* awesome. That's right, in '97, back when they were cool and innovative, as opposed to washed-up middle-aged rock stars living off the two good albums they made way-back in their career.
I'm still pissed i missed seeing SP in concert back in the day. However i would make an argument that even in 97 they had already started to fall apart.
This periless freefall into SUC was foreshadowed by their album Melancholy and the Infinate Sadness which, while it was pretty good, definitely could have been one CD. Also, WTF was with letting James Iha (sp) put his brand of sh*t on the album.
Never liked Adore or Machina. I gave the new album a spin but the single was the only good track on it.
Pisces Iscariot and Siamese Dream FTW.
Also the Airplane Flies High box set had some REALLY good B-sides on it, the box set's name sake particularly.
