Didn't we already have a few threads about Christmas being celebrated early by retailers?

Pretty much every establishment starts stocking xmas stuff now. A lot of people have stopped celebrating halloween and thanksgiving but still stick w/ their xmas traditions, plus FAR too many organizations start planning for xmas parties 3+ months in advance, and right now's the time for the new quarter in budget-land, meaning they just got a new cashpot of funds for decoration purchases.

But to PLAY the damn music this early? *shakes head*

The local grocery store has had a table out in the front entrance with boxes of Christmas cards for a week and a half already. I thought I was hallucinating when I first witnessed it.

The drug store I work in still has Halloween stuff on display. We do, however, have a table with Christmas cards on it. I think it's ok for those cards though because they are sold for Unicef.

That reminds me. I really need to get some card stock so I can start making my Christmas cards. BTW, none of you are getting one from me because the effort to make 20+ individual cards is too much.

see as a results of the mass over commercialization of Christmas i no longer do anything for Christmas except spend it with family. i have a bit pot-luck party for Halloween, a massive Thanksgiving day dinner for my family, yes i do most of the cooking, and then i do jack for Christmas. bloody retailers have ruined Christmas for me.

how is that taking it out on my kids? i spend 100% of my Christmas with my family. they get their gifts, i do not even consider buying before the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving, but i spend it 100% with them and my wife. please explain how that is taking it out on my kids?

He thought (as did I, admittedly) that you meant you wouldn't purchase and give gifts to your kids.

no i take care of my family, but i do not through a big party, like we used to, i do nothing but spend time with my family and take care of them. yes they get gifts from me, my wife, and santa and the rest of the family.

That makes more sense. We do the same thing at my house, we don't have a big party, we just hang out and enjoy our family and friends.

I was in Lowes (a home-improvement store) two weeks ago and they had aisles of Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. I am one step closer to becoming the Grinch.

You're trying to prove a point using utube? utube... the place that had one of the biggest freakin rumors posted over and over again about how pouring coca-cola over pork brings out massive quantities of mealworms, which btw, is a complete lie.

Unfortunately there are too many videos that are just pure lies on there. Only way to really know - is to try it yourself.

Okay, you caught me. I put the video on Youtube "proving" that raisins sink in champagne.

I had to poke holes in the raisins and fill them with bird shot, but dammit, it was important work!
