Does anyone remember when that cat rode the bus to the fish n' chip shop? I don't think any cat will ever impress me as much as that cat did.

Yeah. And at those who think Anime is superior to American style comics. And those who think Prog Rock is superior to lolBritney. And those who think Bush is/was superior to Gore.

It is all a matter of taste. And I just can't see a cat and think that it would ever be a truly loyal creature. Which is why I personally value my dog above a cat.

Your dogs are conditioned to your home and situation. Mine is conditioned to something far worse, and was trained for it since he was a puppy. He is completely harmless to other people, unless they make a nuisance of themselves, which is pretty much impossible to do unless you actually do mean harm to him or someone else. I highly doubt anyone on these boards, no matter what kind of drug they were on, would approach him again after he has made it plenty clear that you have overstayed your welcome.

Besides, he is rarely alone. If he is outside, I am either with him, or he comes back in after doing his business. And as long as I am within earshot of him, he completely ignores anyone. Which is also part of his training. He would only attack someone if I gave the order for it, which would never happen this side of a war or some completely unplausible situation where I stumble upon an attempted murder or some crazy crap like that.

Besides, in this town there aren't many people he don't recognize on sight as accepted.

And what constitutes making a nuisance of yourself. Whistling? Breathing?
You can't really claim to have trained it if it still kills things. And you obviously get pleasure from it....hardly the sort of person that should own any animal.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I retract my previous statement. I hadn't realized that your dog had actually been trained to do that at an earlier time.

I've owned two dogs, one died at 8 years old, the other is currently 2 1/2. The first was a Leonberger who was one of the most quiet, caring dogs you could ever meet, despite weighing in at a good 110 or so pounds. He was raised around two very young children, one of which was a baby when he was bought. I just fail to comprehend how people manage to let their dogs get out of hand to the point where they react violently to simple things.

Behaving in a threatening manner, as in agressive stance, voice, movements. Pretty much what you would consider threatening. In fact, as he is right now he is more mellow and controlled than half the "guard dogs" you see around in private ownerships.

And no, I don't get any pleasure from finding a dead cat in my yard. I feel... proud, that my dog is defending his territory from "intruders". It is hard not to be proud, to be honest. And as I said before, removing this particular training from him would entail too much negative reinforcement. You know the saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Well, that's pretty much bullsh*t. But an old dog unlearning old tricks? Nigh impossible.

Edit Dodobird:
S'allright. I've heard far worse before, from people who know all about Revan's history and training, and I can most certainly understand the sentiments.
