That's not true. It's been about balancing the tension between the will of the many and the rights of the individual.

And the spelling is "bear" in to bear arms. Not bare.

And to be fair to Kaain, while I don't think he's deft in defending his point of view, he provides the counterbalance of this argument around school safety vs individual rights that gets dismissed when we only talk about extremes (as in the OP)-- and when we don't talk about the more common occurance of teeangers bringing knives to school for protection, for example, and what that means for the security of the other students b/c having a weapon escalates disputes pretty quickly.
