Is working in retail stores for almost 3 years now good enough as a substitute to fast food jobs? We get our share of idiots that complain because our flyer starts the next day like it's always been. And the fact that we're out of stock on the last day of the flyer when they come out to buy some. Or when they complain when we have a shortage and we'll be getting other during the week? I'm also annoyed by people that decided that cashier people (since they are the only ones in a shop stuck at their positions) were the best ones to show you where merchandise is.

I could give more.

Oh retail has its fair share, but to be totally honest i would take a retail job over a fast food job anytime except in October 20th-January 14th.

I kinda like retail though. Sure we get our share of idiots, but we also get our share of very nice custommers thanking you for the slightest thing you do for them. It makes it enjoyable.

This thread reminds me of the time I got a mushroom and pineapple pizza.

If it's 4:00 in the afternoon between rushes, it wouldn't be a problem. It's the people that make such requests in the middle of a dinner rush with 15 people at the counter and 10+ cars in drive through. Times like those... a burger guy doesn't have time to stop and concentrate on your specific sandwich. And god forbid he not be listening the very second you make such a request, or maybe he doesn't have a headset on. In either case, he now has to stop what he's doing, wait for the drive through person to NOT be talking to the customer, and ask "What was that order?", which delays things even further.

Well, like you went on to say in your post, you're talking about an archaic system.

I worked fast food over ten years ago, and we had the "fancy shmancy" overhead monitors. You do not have to stop and ask the person taking the order what they wanted, you simply have to look up.

God forbid they have to actually do their job right, eh?

The majority of the US is lazy. Why work for a dollar when you can goof off most of the time for $5, wait, $7 now. If you get fired, just stand in a line for a little while and government will give you some money taken from the paychecks of those who do still work hard.

No. Intelligence would be recognizing the pattern that when you customize your order, your order gets screwed up more often then when you don't.

Except that like I sort of said previously, my order is right more often then wrong, around 9 to 1 at least.

Let's see... 9 to 1 means that 10% of the time, they ***** up your order.

Over the last 20 years or so, I'd estimate that I ate fast food *alot* (I'm a long time bachelor, right?). Likely about 4-5 times a week in fact. Let's call it 4 times to lowball the estimate. 20 years, 52 weeks a year, 4 days a week. Do the math... 20*52*4=4160 trips to a fast food place.

In that time I've had three screwed up orders. Actually, I can only remember two of them, but for some reason I think it was three. So...

That's a whopping .072% of my orders screwed up. Contrasted to 10% of your orders screwed up. That means, that that your orders get screwed up 142 times more often then mine.

I think it's safe to say that my original statement, that by customizing your order, your order will be screwed up more often, is absolutely accurate. Wouldn't you?
