So has anyone played this game yet?
My roommate got it this weekend for his XBox and we played it for a few days (splitscreen offline) and then last night I got it for my PC so I could play online. A really wonderful game, it totally immerses you in the experience of a large-scale Star Wars troop battle. The focus is on ground troops, with many land vehicles and a few starcraft. There are a few different game modes, from playing through the historical campaigns (Republic/Separatist era, and Empire/Rebel era) to a more free-choice galactic conquest, to Quickstart battles. The online play is a bit sketchy, mostly because of the limitations to the server select menu. All in all, I think it's great.

It's very much like Battlefield: 1942, specifically the Starwars mod for that game. Not that I've played it, but there are a lot of BF:1942 fans out there making the comparison.
And yes, you can drive the ATs (and the STs, and the TEs, TIEs, Xs, Ys, snowspeeders, and the funky Separatist tanks from the Geonosis battle)

yes yes very nice game, i've been playing it since it came out. Trying to cut back so i can lvl my chacter though :D

Same story here. That's why I downloaded the [link=www.desertcombat.com]Desert Combat[/link] mod. It implements technology from the Desert Storm era and beyond. An excellent modification if I do say so myself.
Played the demo on the Bonus DVD disk, and promptly removed the steaming POS from my Xbox. Horrible controls, horrible graphics, and much more.

For some bizare reason, thy didn't implement voice chat. Though you can still use other voice chat programs on your PC, like Battlefield Commander or RogerWilco.
Lack of voicechat is one of the more conspicuous weaknesses in an obviously squad-tactic-based game. There are some other problems too, but for now, it's still pretty playable. I expect to see some fixes within the next few months.
