Rap is country with drum machines.

"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die" -- Johnny Cash.

It's the same story with a diffrent beat.

Which reminds me of The Gourds cover of Gin 'n' Juice. Frickin awesome.

Current track: Royksopp: Sparks off of Melody A.M.

Next 5 tracks:
Peace Orchestra: Domination - Guilliaume Boulard Mix from the Reset album
Cylob: I Left My Heart In Syntax Error from the Cylobian Sunset album
Lamb: Lusty from the self-titled album
Dynamic Syncopation: The Plan off of Dynamism
DJ Krush/Toshinori Kondo: Sun Is Shining off of Ki-Oku

Most stuff I listen to at work is downtempo, trip-hop, turntableism type stuff. I like the chill mellow beats in the background. Keeps my stress level down.

Don't be a ******. Just don't. Rap and Hip Hop are a reflection of a lifestyle shared by many, though pioneered primarily by African Americans. To say that the content of this reflection is an insult to the very people that create it is a pretty large insult. Thus, your whole "out of respect for black people" thing is bullsh*t.

Try listening to some Hip Hop that you don't see on MTV or BET or whatever and you will witness a whole different presentation of the culture.

I agree. Black people dont listen to metal music and think that all white people are goth crazy, satan worshipping schizo's... so why would anyone think that a certain percentage of rap music reinforces stereotypes about blacks? Have you ever listened to Mos Def, The Roots, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Slum Village, Dead Prez, Rakim, KRS One, Poor Righteous Teachers, AZ, Wutang, etc? Those are all groups and artists that go AGAINST the stereotype that all black people are in gangs or on drugs. Stop watching video's and go get some albums... you might learn something.

Is there anyone that's been with The Cure for more than two albums aside from Robert Smith?

As they are my favorite band in the world I feel the need to answer this question in their defense.

Besides Robert, all of the current memebers have played on 2 or MORE albums.

Simon (bass player) has been the member with them the longest, besides Robert. Simon left for 1 album *, The Top, and came back for The Head On The Door and has been with them ever since.

Perry (guitarist) - Has been a member of the band since the Wish album.

Roger (keyboardist) - Joined during Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, left after Disintegration, then rejoined the band for the Bloodflowers album and is still currently with them.

Jason (drummer)- Joined the band during Wild Mood swings and has played with then since.

The least number of albums any one of the current members has played on is 3, by Jason, the newest member of the band, who joined in 1994, 10 years ago.

So, contrary to your belief the band is made up of revolving session players, the lineup is comprised of members who have played on many of the groups albums.

* The Japanese Whispers album was an album of electronic influenced synth pop that Robert recorded along with Laurence Tolhurst. Robert never intended to release it under The Cure's name, but Chris Parry, their manager at Fiction records persuaded him to do so. This is the only album on which only Robert and 1 other member recorded with other "session players".

The Wild Mood Swings album did have 3 seperate drummers record the album before ultimately deciding Jason Cooper was to be their new, permanent, drummer.

Yeah, whatever. Just like if George and Paul left the Beatles for the White Album, came back for Abbey Road and then were replaced by an organ grinders monkey for Let It Be.

Well that's a stereotype if I've ever seen one. I'm sure the majority may not, but don't be so quick to judge. Ever heard of Sevendust? Look them up and check out their lead singer...amazing voice for both screaming and singing - by far one of my fave metal singers. And guess what? He's black :O

Edit: Grammar

Currently (at work) i'm listening to some of my co-workers babble in the other half of my shared office.
I had been listening to classicfm.com streaming audio but the company recently firewalled that Smiley: frown I need to get some CDs to bring in.
