Don't use ferngullygraphics.comFollow

I posted this in the FFXI section to spare those looking to start a game related site (like I had looked into several months ago). However, the discussion is more appropriate here in the OoT.
Quote:
If you're a current webmaster, or even someone thinking about starting a LS site or something... do NOT use Fern Gully Graphics as a hosting company. They were rather legitimate for the first 5 months, but just last Thursday I got a $200 charge to my bank account from their company. I got no email invoice or notification of any kind. The number my bank gave me from the charge was a fax number. Finally, the number they have listed on their own site just goes to a machine that says all operators are busy and to leave a message...

Hang on... leave a message? Ok, thats what I get for Billing... what if I do sales... surely someone will pick up, they wanna make money right? No, of course not... they got my $200, they don't need any sales... I got the same recording. I can't believe a company that weighs heavily on sales/billing does not have a queue system set up for their phones.

Things are sounding very shady with their company ATM and even IF they contact me back and refund the money, I will still be reluctant as keeping them as my host.

Oh, I also thought of other reasons I may incurr such a large fee and the results are:

1) I'm 29 gigs short of my monthly 35 gig alottment.

2) I have receipt invoices for each months payment up to date.

3) I never send any emails off their servers (no spam possibilities)

so wtf? Is it just me, or this sound shady? At any rate, save yourselves before you experience it for yourself. :-\ this rather sux.

You could always report it as a fraudulent charge. Billed for services unrendered or something like that.

yea, I did... in order to do a chargeback, my bank has to mark my card as stolen, kill it off and mail me a new one which I have to activate after the 5-7 days it takes to get here... and Square is gunna hit my account in 4 days. :-\. So I'm stuck at least a week before I can charge that back. I've been trying to resolve things, but its not going soo well.

I finally broke down and emailed them. In the email I mention how I got no invoice or receipt or whatever you wanna call it, yet I receive an email asking me for the billing statement so they can look into this matter. I return the email reitterating I never received anything from them for the $200 charge and I get back an email with an appology and a better description of what the billing statement may be and asking for the billing statement again. I sent back a 3rd email mentioning I do not have a billing statement for the 3rd time. I tried explaining I obtained my info from my bank and since it was done on their inhouse, their inhouse should look into it without a billing statement (since I never got one). Bah, anyways, time to go to work... yippie!!! Things just get more fun and fun.

Could it be that they have you on the annual plan? With your 35gig allotment, you chose the $14.95 plan, correct. Maybe they charged you the entire year in order to get that price ($179.40).

not with monthly invoices via email for $14.95 each invoice. Even if it were annual, that only come to $179.40 without any discounts.

EDIT:
This was a flat $200.00 charge... not $195 and I just rounded up... not even $199.95. It was $200.00 even.

Not sure how your bank does it, but you can request a chargeback due to services unrendered. That way your card wasn't stolen, and you should be able to receieve a refund. It works that way at my bank, give it a try.

nah, I bank with wells fargo, I tried to see if there was any other way... either its some super, top secret, method that they don't want to perform for one reason or another, or its just not feasible. :-\. At any rate, fgg said they will look into this matter without a billing statement, but it could take up to 48 hrs. So I guess I'm just hanging in there till friday. If by Monday I still have no word from them, charge back it is. New card, thank you... yippie what fuxed up fun :-\

I had to do something like this recently, someone got a hold of my checkcard number. Only thing that sucked was not having money in my account to pay all my bills. I got all the money refunded within a week, so it wasn't too terribly long. Good luck with it working out.

i see some one else with wellsfargo problems , i have been hit with there lack of understanding of the basic person.

In the last 2 years my CC card has had 4 attacks on it costing me over 600$ in overdraft fee's ( they where charging me 35$ even on a 1$ over draw )and this is after i had asked them to flag any internet transactions that went on apart from the ones i had already stated 6 months earlyer.

this last attack on my wellsfargo account is for a holding company that deals with XXX sites.

At wellsfargo they dont seem to understand that the account has had 32$ in it for the past 4 weeks with no work check being cashed (out of work 5 weeks) with this in mind who in there right mind would power spend with a CC/debit card to the point of 200$ on XXX sites .

wellsfargo have also gone the othere way with checks - 2$ overdrawn they return it and charge 25$ - a check for 140$ went thru 3 days later with the same 25$ overdraft charge .
